Linn LP12 - Install NOS Cirkus bearing, Stack Audio Tenor sub chassis, baseboard, braces.

I could be wrong! So verify from other Linn owners or dealer what I say here. I'm no Linn expert. I had a lot of guidance on this project.

I don't think the pre-Cirkus bearing's Subchassis is compatible with Cirkus bearing. Otherwise I would have used it with Cirkus and it's inner platter.
I think, the Cirkus Subchassis is compatable with latest new bearing. When Cirkus owners upgraded to newest bearing they used thier old Cirkus Subchassis. That's why I couldn't find a separate Cirkus Subchassis. So I bought an after market one from Stack Audio, noted in this thread.

This is likely clear as mud.

Read the whole thread. Post #14 mentions the Cirkus bearing originally came in a kit with Subchassis.

You don't want to buy the wrong parts. Thier expensive enough as it is.

I did read the whole thread and I was still lost so I contacted LP12 Bits and this was there reply.
Hi
Yes it can but you wont get the full benefit out of it that you would if you had a cirkus or Majik sub chassis where the bearing is bolted to two thicknesses of the plate to provide extra rigidity.
There is also the issue of the height being wrong although this could be overcome with a spacer (I don't stock these).

I bought my Cirkus bearing and inner platter on Ebay, from Origin Live. Was NOS condition. But didn't come with Subchassis.

I ordered Stack Audio's entry level Tenor model Subchassis. I think it was around $235. It came with a spacer to be used with Cirkus bearing. The Tenor had a counterbore where the bearing attached. So it wasn't very thick right under the bearing. I see on Stack site, they no longer offer the Tenor model. It was machined aluminum. Much better than Linn bent sheet steel. Now Stack's Alto model at $413 is cheapest one.

If I were you. I would start a fresh thread here in turntables. Compose the title to include Linn LP-12 and your question.
You might also try other forums.
I lot of LP-12 owners use dealers to do thier upgrades $$. So you might get that recommendation from some. I chose the cheaper DIY route.
