I have a Basic Plus arm, have had it mounted to the Axis and the LP12.
While I have not ran the AT95E, I have ran the CF95SE from LP Gear on it. It's the same body style of the AT95e's but has a carbon fiber cantilever. Its not crap plastic stylus, its actual carbon fiber.

I don't care to get into a debate that the original AT95E styles was far superior to others, yes I know. We all know. That's not the point..
Ok back to it, So I have ran the
CF95SE on the Basic Plus and the LV X, and as someone said, they don't track well. Ture to an extent, they do well if the arm is properly dialed in. I did add XTC Counterweight to mine and it seems to have helped a lot.

The cart is actually the work of AT and LP Gear teaming up to put out there own line of carts. The CF95SE won a few awards for being one of the best carts under 100 bucks, the Shure V15 beat it out, but not by much (google the reviews and history of the cart).
Some folks may say its low end. My question to them is, have you EVER TIRED IT? if not, You don't know. Take a look at the reviews, its funny to see how many folks get one and are floored. If you search AK you will find a few review threads on them. Gear proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money for good sound.
I say for the $$ try it, I run on my SME 3009 S2I as well, and its a fantastic cart on the SME.
On the Linn's its a nice clean sounding cart, no harshness yet does not sound stuffy at all. As others said its a K9/K5 body style so it has the looks of the originals.
I say all that because my next one is a little more $$
Next: The Sumiko Blue Point No. 2
I recently got one, and mounted it to the LVX, I can say it was a sonic upgrade to the AT92E P-Mount cart I was running. (clearly) LOL
it pairs well with the arm, SQ is fantastic, and while its list price is above the OP's asking price, they can be had in his price range. Its a fantastic cartridge and has great detail.
That said, you wont go wrong with the
CF95SE
other carts I have tried that were just so so.. The Shure M91ED, M95Ed, the AT92E, and Empre EXL 20I, and some other big body Empire P series.
The CF95SE was better than all that I listed, and not just by a little but by a lot. The top end is clear as the day is long and the bottom end is just as nice and smooth. And the upside, if one feels that the stylus Is not up to par with the more expensive ones, it will accept the AT95E tip's.
good luck on your upgrade, I say find a nice HOMC, or the CF95SE.
Kind Regards,
John
