List of Absurd Prices for Items - Fun thread for obviously enthusiastic expectations

These Sansui receivers are nice, BUT, at best, top eBay price is around $250, but those have all metal frames, not real wood like the one for sale below. That must be the reason it can command a 4x price. :D

That and being one of the ultra rare ZDB models. I sold a 9900 Z fifteen years ago. If only it had been a 9900 ZDB there would be a Ferrari in the driveway instead of a Fiero.

A buddy sent me a picture of a steamer chair on sale for $500.. It wasnt even that old, just dirty and beat up.. But, maybe we are the idiots and that thing was on the Titanic and is worth half a million..

NEVER USED, but apparently, not kept safe from dust, dents, fading and anything else either, and oh, BTW, each lost its other match, but NEVER USED!

Selling my Sansui 331. Has a decent amount of cosmetic wear on it's outer chassis but is functioning 100% aside from some scratchy pots.

Better hurry this one is going to be there a while.

I found this image on Reddit sub Vintage Audio. Wow that is crazy someone went on Ebay found one and priced it accordingly GW price should be $25 to $35 real world it is worth $60 to $75. People on that sub say MCS is junk MCS has 3 or 4 decent receivers and one really good turn table it is decent mid level not high end like Marantz or Sansui

This garbage happens around here all of the time - at the Goodwill, Salvation Army The workers have discovered ebay and are jacking up the prices for junk and half-junk to ridiculous prices. And this on stuff that was GIVEN to them as a donation. I gave up on both places a couple years ago - Nothing worth buying anymore other than ratty old furniture, Yorx rack systems and acres of clothing that all seem to smell like musty basement and mothballs.

Not mine, no afill and all that.
OEM brand speakers. Never heard of them, but maybe they are something.
Seem to have decent construction.
Listed on CL as "vintage stereo speakers big and tall". The dome tweeter is recognizable though. As always, surrounds are optional.
They do have a better than white van crossover.

The price is 420. Maybe 420 influenced the price?

Being in proximity to marantz gear influences the price somehow? Hmmm.. Gibson made guitars around here, how much does that increase the value of some random guitar amp that I am trying to sell?

Wow, I am close to that Turn Table in Chattanooga. Tell you what, I can go buy it for you and then send it to you. I am only asking $200 for picking it up and shipping it! I will even use my own packing tape with no charge to you. Just let me know, thanks!

Their NEC built receivers are quite good and the 3275/3125 easily qualify as mid to high end. They had a few turntable models built by Technics, the 6720 probably being the best of the bunch.:)
