List of AK'ers with a Technics SL1200/SL1210

SL-1210 Mk2, as of about 5 hours ago

It came with a Shure Me97HE, spare headshell, overhang gauge and auxilary weight and a Technics felt mat (and a rather filthy one at that) but not a rubber one. I'm using my SL-1401 mat right now and a Me95ED that I have (new stylus).

Built in 2001 I think.

Please add me to the list!

Just thought I'd add some info.

Got my SL1200mkII NOS, running it bone stock with a Denon DL-160 HOMC.

Easy setup, built like a tank and with a freshly cleaned LP on the RCM, I smile from start to finish - don't mind getting up to lift the arm and flip the LP.

1- tricked out SL-1200 MKII dubbed the "MKE"

2- beat-to-hell DJ 1200 MKII's in a basement DJ setup

1- seriously sorry excuse for an SL-1200 MKII that should probably be put out to pasture, but I can't bring myself to do it..

1200 mk5 here...got it from a guy who decided he didn't really want to dj and just wanted to erase all traces of a bad episode..Love the table..think I hate the ortofon concorde cart though..recommends for good carts for this table?

Greetings from FixitLand!

Count me in. Have an SL-1200 Mk II, s/n MJ59009F146. Was purchased by my employer 11 March 1986, sat in our studio largely unused until 2005 when we moved to our current building. No plans for a turntable in the new studio, so I gave the rig a new home. I use it primarily for transferring 78s (at 45 rpm) to my computer for processing. Main cart is a Stanton 500 with custom 78 styli; for LPs I have an old Pickering cart that just happens to accept the Stanton styli, so the OEM stylus from the Stanton cart lives there. Wish I could afford to have the SL-1200 modded for 78 rpm...for now, if I need 78 I use an old Rek-O-Kut 16" lathe to which I mounted a latter-day "Rek-O-Kut" arm. But that's another thread. :)

Take care,

The concorde ProS is a great cartridge if you have that one - just get a new needle - I'm running the OM30 - amazing cart/needle combo.

M3D here, modded with a KAB super mat and new dustcover. Currently running with Grado Blue but sometimes switch out with a Shure M97xe. Found used for $250 in a local record store. Only issues are cosmetic--a few scratches and scuffs in the plinth. I love this machine.

Please add me to the list.

You can always get a hifi om stylus for the Concorde. Like a om 20, 30 or 40. Im currently using a om 20 on a Concorde cart.

I think I will try that! I just got the eliptical dj stylus for the electric blue cart and it cost barely 50.00 if that so I've always suspected that I could've/should've gone higher. I do love the idea of a cart that is built specifically for this table though!

I picked up a 1200 this weekend on CL ($150, which I was quite happy with :). I hoped somebody could tell me where to get the wooden boxes to put them in at a reasonable price... they look gorgeous that way!

Wow, those are expensive boxes... maybe I'll try to build my own.

Here is a new issue- I noticed that I have a vertical wobble in my platter (I can move it up and down on the spindle, which stays in place).

On some records I get a popping noise as the record spins (especially tracks towards the outside). Is this the stylus coming out of the groove a little bit and then landing back inside?

I notice that the platter hole is a bit stripped looking, which I think is causing the problem. Does anybody have a good way of fixing that? I thought of taping the spindle, but that would still leave it crooked since the stripping isn't uniform.
