Just scored a Luxman L-450 on Fleebay for $130. One owner, fully
working and excellent condition. Shipping out Monday so pics will follow.

Will be recapping this...Cannot seem to find a Service Manual for this?

Congratulations, I hope you like the Luxman. I have one and I'm very pleased with it. I bought it's big brother the L-580 as well back in the day when it was new, still have it. As for service manuals, my suggestion is just to set a watch on eBay and wait. They come around every so often, but not very often. I don't have one for the L-450, but I've seen them. Good luck!

I saw that and was going to bid on it and spaced it, let it slip by. I think that was probably a pretty fair deal. Glad to see it went to a fellow AK'r. Good luck.:thmbsp:

Started the Recap....

Main Caps: Nichicon GU 10,000 63V
Power Board: Nichicon PW
Switches and Phone Board: Nichicon FG

Just wrap this recap up. Boy does this sound sweet..:music:

I did notice that R714b(27k 5% 1/4watt) has a cracked shell. Resistor color is Red, Violet, Orange, Gold

Idle Current is right on 33mV for both L/R
D.C. Offset is right on 0V

No drifting either.

Here are the pics of the cracked Resistor..

Do you think anything else in that area is an Issue?

Thanks...I just replaced the resistor. All is working and re-check adjustments with no issues found.

Going to run this overnight.

Dear friends. I just bought a second hand Luxman L-450. This is a wonderful amp and I am truly loving it. Yet, being a user manuals reader, I'd like to have the user manual (or the service manual if possible) for this amp. Do you think it is possible? Do any one of you own one?

Best regards and thanks for being such a great team!

Sorry, CohibaJoe. I got the model number wrong. My Luxman is a L-430, not 450. I apologize from all forum members. I'll try to post my query in a better place than here, which is mainly for 450.

Best regards to all Luxman owners.

Just saw a Luxman 1050 receiver on craigslists in Syracuse. How does that compare to what you guys have. He wants $300 for it. That seems high to me. Not that I need it, but with all you guys spouting how wonderful Luxman is, just wondering if I should own one. But I do like my Marantz setup in the Living room.

$300 is high, at the very top end of the price range for those. He probably bought it for $5 at a yard sale, checked eBay's ended auctions, and is pricing it at the high end of the range.

It is a nice receiver. But you could do better for much less. Check out the Luxman R-115. It's very under-rated, as you can pick them up for a song, and get almost all the performance of the R-117--one of the all-time great stereo receivers.
