What bulb does it use? How difficult are they to replace?

Sorry that is a special unit that gives you the strobe, they may be available. The service manual talks about adjusting the voltage for that.

The service manual also states that one of the virtues of their "cold cathode ultra violet light tube" is its long life which they estimate to be 20,000 hours so it may be a problem with the circuit and not the bulb.
