Made my first braided speaker cable...

and I'm proud of myself! LOL!!! Had some spare wire and banana plugs laying around. It's the same 16awg OFC I'm currently using. Used 4 separated strands, terminating the two positives and negatives into one banana for each at both ends (of course).

Didn't have any heat-shrink - just used some electrical tape. Maybe next time.

You should correct your mistake from the first wire in the second version.

North of the equator, the wires should go the other way.

That heat shrink, get some to cover those metal bananas so the ends not connected to the amp don't touch when the amp is on. Some amps don't like that.

The bass has doubled!! The mids have tripled!! The highs are so clear I can see through them!! There's colors swirling around the room!! Could be the shrooms, though.

There's a black stripe on the negative pair. Hard to notice in the pic. Next time two separate colors!

Yeah, gonna order some when I get around to making a multi-color set. Only some amps?!? Good to know!!

I just googled a pic showing the steps... easy-peasy! And the set came out to only less than 3 inches difference in overall length, which is about 8 feet.

How long are they? How long of wire did you start off with? Are the plugs soldered or set screw?

4 lengths approximately 9'3" to start. Final length is just under 8' with a couple inches cut off during assembly. These bananas require the wire to be splayed around the barrel and it is screwed in. No solder or set screws. Future plans will include different/better bananas.

Nice job. An option in the future would be to go to your local electronics/wire value added distributor and have them twist up a pair of black and red wires on their machine. Most shops will do as little as 100ft of either your wire or their wire. OPG.

Hard to tell from the picture but if you combined two 16 gauge wires per side you actually ended up with 13 gauge wire.
