Maggies MG2Bs

Damn, those are clean.

Enjoy your Maggies. I wish I had the room for a pair.

Yeah, they really are a clean pair. The only real cosmetic issue with them was the black pedestals were pretty beat up, probably by a maniac vacuum cleaner operator. :D

I just popped them off and gave them a fresh coat of paint.

to open up the high end, you might want to replace the caps in the crossover... some of the maggies only have a single cap, using a good Sonicap replacement will open up the top with more detail...

Well done, Retro! They look terrific.

I purposefully stayed away from them even though they were nearby and at a great price. I knew if I went to check them out I'd bring them home, and right now I'm maxed out on the WAF for speakers in use, being fixed up, or otherwise laying around...

How'd you get them down to Owatonna?

Retro,
You have the Magnepan MGIIb's and the Allison One's. I have the MGIIIa's and the Allison Two's. Reminds me of the "Twin Brothers by different Mothers" Album. Enjoy the Maggie's

I've got an old (1996) Ford Windstar Minivan I use for my large speaker hauler. I just pop out both of the bench seats and it turns into a panel van for hauling. I've driven it to Detroit 3 out of the last 5 years as well to haul my stuff to the AK Fest. It's one of the best minivans out there, gas milage-wise (22+ highway), and it only costs me about $250 a year for insurance. I also use it for our spare vehicle in case one of the others ends up in the shop. I recommend having something like this for anyone who needs to haul electronic gear, or kids. :D

Thanks Jim!
Have you got any pictures of your Maggies or Allison's posted?

Think of all those folks you passed on I-35 who had no idea what a vintage audio treasure you were carting home in the mini-van!:thmbsp:

Yes, both are posted in various threads. Iposted pics of the MGIIIa refurb a month or so ago.

So you had your head in the vice? Cool. Thanks for the pic.

I scored some Dire Straights albums last week and finally got a chance to hear them this weekend on the maggies.

You're right about the female vocals on them. Be sure to check out some bluegrass to really hear that banjo ringing!
