Magnavox 9304 DCG troubleshooting help

It should be fine -- it's the value of the cap that does the work -- not the dielectric makeup of it. Most HF bypass caps are ceramic because the value is non-critical, they're small, and cheap.

Thanks for joining in Dave. I had a feeling it had to do with the arcing 6EU7, but you can never rule out ME doing something stupid. Glad it all worked out. I’ll get some caps on there ASAP. Does the cap need to be literally soldered to the leads of the reg? Or can it be across where they terminate. I have the leads pretty well covered with heat shrink.
I hadn’t notice anyone else post about an issue like this, that’s why I started the thread. Hopefully it can help someone down the road.
6; I’m not entirely sure why all the iron got so hot, including the choke. My best guess is that the EFB was no longer controlling the bias and it ran away. I’m sure these other guys will have a better answer for ya.
