Magnavox Balancer Series

yes, I asked a question. I got a set today at the local thrift and they sound surprisingly good. fairly decent size 27 1/2 tall 16.5 wide and 10 1/2 deep, ported enclosure with strange tweeter and mid addon sticking out the front for imaging? grills do not come off? cant see any of the drivers. Sorry no camera.. Just messing around with them hooked to a yamaha 85 watt amp they outperform a set of Infinity Qe's easily. Am I crazy or are these actually decent speakers? Only numbers I can find on tag says for replacement of enclosure order by model number 704283-11.

Bump, will try this again. Like I said have no camera but I found this add on e-pay with pictures of the speakers in question. Can't believe nobody knows anything about them. Just strange and sound really decent to me.

I ran across some of those speakers too at a thrift store. Haven't bought them yet because I didn't know anything about them. Wasn't sure magnavox made very good speakers. Needrepair, you like thier sound though, do you think they are worth $20?

Is my avatar too distracting or can anybody comment on them (Balancer series by magnavox) :) ?

Magnificent Box...

I think that's what they called those. The speakers. Magnificent Magnivox something or other.

Found a pair of these also for 20 bucks in great shape at a local thrift. Not as good of shape as the avatar up top but if I close my eyes I can imagine:yes:
Does any body have any other experience with or info on them? They have built in chords like cheap speakers but it's thick, like 14g!
Mine have a sticker on each saying not to use with amps over 30 watts so be careful to the original poster using 85 watts with theirs.
It's been awhile maybe you've found out by now.:sigh:

No info on them, but Phillips/Magnavox did make some very nice sounding drivers back in the day. As far as the avatar goes, I still have to give my vote to "Just Dave's" siggy pic as "The Best":) But then, I love brunettes:yes:

Hello I recently came across a set of the Magnavox speakers you had back in 09.
I was wondering how they ended up performing.
There is a very nice pair at my local thrift for $30 wondering if worth picking up

Welcome to AK Klipschnitz.

It looks like the original Op and his bitchin' ass avatar hasn't been seen around here since 2010.

Just to revive this old one. I just picked up a set of these speakers on the cheap and they sound great. The tweeters turned in make for very nice imaging. Tight bass. I actually stuck my hand in the rear port to make sure the woofer foam was intact. Feels like paper surround to me.
Sticker on back says 30w ch. Running them with a late 80's black faced Onkyo receiver(another under the radar receiver).

I am extremely surprised by these. These are nice; regardless who made them/what they cost. A deal for the $.

Did that guy ask a question? It’s been 14 years and I’m still distracted by his avatar
