Since I'm not too far south of you we heard all about it down here. It was all over the Portland TV news. He was definitely lucky.

You know, if you don't GO AROUND PLACES LIKE THAT IN THE 1ST PLACE...(Sigh)....I'd do somethin' like that, it would be just enuff force to make the sumbich blow up again...

I was surprised that a snowmobile could run so far and steep up the mountain - when I saw the helicopter video shots of the tracks in the TV news story.

I talked to a friend at work who has hiked St. Helens, and he said they did the same thing -- you HAVE to crawl and look over the edge when you hike up there...but they did their best to look around the corner/make sure they weren't out on a cornice / precipice.

3 big men + snowmobiles + huge cornice + warm weather = disaster waiting to happen.

Those guys were on one of the network morning shows today saying they were 20 feet or more from the edge. Well, their video didn't look like they were that far back to me.

I bet that guy said "Hey ya'll, watch this!!"" just before the cornice gave way.

I agree with Celt....that's one lucky dumbass.

You guys are missing the important point in the report: this guy is a long-term UPS driver. He just did with himself what he has been doing with parcels and packages for years...

:D
