Mancave Rebuild after Sewer Flood

I missed this when you posted it, @Old Guy8. SO GLAD to see your travails with the basement are over. That's a sweet looking setup, and I really like the tabletop vinyl clusters. Flip with ease! Think I'll work on something like that in my own setup.

Thought I would update this thread with latest cave pics.

This years Flexy rack. I posted a build thread on Butcher Block Flexy with casters.

I installed two sets #12 awg speaker wires in-wall from rack under stairwell to left speakers and right speakers. Room size: 25' x 14.5' to 18' alcove x 7' height. Vinyl plank flooring. Padded area rug, carpet on bar and cushions behind speakers are only treatments.

Sorry, forgot to remove cat protection covers on turntables. Hats on speakers to discourage climbers. Anded one more pic.

OUTSTANDING job! Really nicely done.

I can sincerely empathize with you. Our basement suffered a sewer backup under the original owners, and the entire finished area had to be completely torn out. It's a huge job to rebuild them. They never were able to do it, and it sat unfinished for over 20 years until we got around to it.

Enjoy it for many carefree years! And hopefully it is exactly the way you always wanted it to be.

Onward. I found a couple old library tables at SA, to put the fabric holders on. They can take the load. I can remove to use table for projects. Works for me. BTW, I added 12" sq. x 1/4" thick MDF pieces at each end of fabric boxes.
Thanks to your and other AKs postings of encouragement helped when it was an undecribable mess. It turned out better than before. Was able to install in wall wiring, which always wanted.

Thank you. Before rebuilding, we replaced a backwater valve that failed. Now valve is one with a rubber flapper seal. And at sametime added a second sump pump/pit adjacent to floor drain. Worked well during a record wet June '18. Our best decision on project.
I spend hours a day, listening in the cave.
 
Sorry to hear about the floods,that really sucks.This makes me think of that thread last week about puttin your gear on the floor. Good luck.
 
I have my first set of true floor standing speakers on order. Worry? Sure, I move stuff off the floor in wet times.
Given the increasing number of super storms and rains, of late.
 
If I remember correctly, aren't you retired, Old Guy8??? Hours a day listening?? Ahh man, that sounds like heaven.

I can't begin to tell ya how many people I have preached to over the years....that if you leave the house for more than a day...TURN your water off and the hot water heater.

I used to do insurance claims for State Farm...and the destruction I seen from water damage is crazy....and most of it could have been avoided.

I know this wasn't the OP's case...those are unfortunate...but to leave a house to go on vacation or a trip and leave water on is asking for it.

I was curious if you did the remodel or was some of it hired out?

First time I'm seeing this thread. I remember you talking about this over on the Jazz thread, but I didn't really have a full appreciation of things, until I saw this. Wow, you really went through it. Glad your back in action of course, and glad your listening space looks so nice! :thumbsup:

We did the carpet glue power scraping, some grinding and chemical glue removal. And we did electrical, painting and staining. Hired the drywall, hard plaster, bath tile, vinyl plank and carpentry.
