I hate to add onto a thread that already has 242 posts, but I am also replacing the caps on my Marantz 1040, but I have a much more mundane question. I bought some new 4700uF, 63V caps from Mouser, and like all new caps, these are a fraction of the size of the big cans that were there before. Any ideas on how to mount the new caps in the holes left behind? Thanks!
Personally, I would go back and order some caps that fit the original clamps, or at least came close. But....some people use the black foam tubing insulation used for protecting pipes from freezing. Cut off about an inch and put it between the clamp and the cap.
