Marantz 1040

Hi Pete. I started out to change caps started with CE01 which is the one I decided to start with and reading now is the same as the other channel. I am getting a mild fluctuating on both sides between 00,1mv to 00,5mv. Is that acceptable as I am thinking it is due to sensitivity of the trimming resistors.

If this is ok then buddy your good luck wishes worked

Ok Pete. Last detail and the project will be done.

Original power light was 8v 60ma. I have a 5v 150ma bulb and a 22ohm resistor. Can this work or am I going to destroy something?

Hi Pete do you mean the lamp might be at risk. If so and I'm not risking the amplifier then I'm willing to spare the bulb as it is a spare. Bought 3 first time around as it was cheap. Just don't want to undo all the work done and time you invested in getting me to here.

:dunno:

Ok. I just cannot get it her in this country. Searched everywhere. I'm putting DVM on light bulb wires now just to see what voltage is coming through with the 22ohm resistor. Resistor has been there all the way so just a check. Will come back with DVM readings

Check with AK member @dgwojo at his web site, dgwojo.com. He carries all of the hard to find bulbs for vintage amps, and can help you find exactly the right one.

Hey Steve thanks for that. I take it you read the progress Pete has helped me achieve. If I can get the right bulb id rather wait it out than undo all the work put in. Will check out the site.

Thanks Steve but credit goes to Pete. He piloted me all the way and knew exactly where the problem lied even without seeing anything. Its a true example of his talent. Could never have got here without him.

Thank you, thank you, thank you and and cannot thank you enough Pete. Especially for sticking with me all the way. A true measure of a gentleman.

Hi Guys. Just a small update. Ran the amplifier from 11 this morning till around 4 in the afternoon and she sings like a bomb and barely even warmed up. Hearing her made all the effort worth while especially the sound of my vinyls.

Really appreciate all of you guys who chipped in to help me pull this off.

I am truly grateful. Thank you to you all and AK for making this possible.

Pete well done to you Pal. You were the brain through the entire project.

If not too much to ask. Just curious to know why you advised to not turn on the amp with the Stv 3 out. What purpose does it serve and what would have happened if I did switch on with it out. I'm a learner so would like to acquire as much knowledge as I can
