Marantz 2265B

Hey all, got a Marantz 2265B coming in a week or so, no experience with this model, don't know if it works, was listed as 'for restoration' so going in blind. Any thoughts or issues with this model? Thanks Rich

The lamp housing will break if you even look at it! They get so blankety-blank brittle with heat. I always have to take them out to get at all of the switches for DeOxit and the filter switch boards to recap. There are ways to repair them and brass strip can be cut and drilled to replace the broken mounting "ears". If you're not getting that deep into it, the easier way is to get the plastic dial off and replace lamps going in from the front. Have fun!!

Thanks Randy, maybe I'll get lucky. Just planning on cleaning it up and re-capping the power amp, and filter caps didn't see any caps on the power supply in the SM. What's your feeling about this one?

Looks like the lamp housing is the same as the 2235B I just replaced.....



That one stayed in one piece, but didn't take to the heat too awfully well!

Let's hope it doesn't look like that!

There has to be e-caps in the power supply. The p/s is very important to recap on every old unit. You'll see them when you get it and crack it open.

I will when I get it. Found the list, the headers in the SM are off and appear in the middle of the board part listing. P-800 has a crap load of caps if this is correct, but I have everything except the 330uf 63v and the 4.7 50v. Will make sure when it gets here. Thanks Rich

Still learning, but I pretty much do the power supplies, filter caps and power amps on the units I work on. Figure these components see the most wear.
