Marantz 2385 & Misc. CL

Thats a very fair price for a 2385. On eBay they go for 900+ and that does not include shipping

Of course, any gear is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it

There was a post here recently about one on CL that went for $150.00 ??which I'm aware was ridiculously low but somewhere in between would be good for me.

Wharfedale 4 way speakers - not sure of the model but very heavy and from the 60s - has odd looking "jelly fish" tweeters that work, scratchy controls & woofer 'rattle'. asking 50. pr.
Cerwin Vega D9 speakers - woofers need foam & I have the grilles. All drivers work and controls are fine. asking $175. pr.
Marantz 2385 receiver - puts out 185 watts into 8 ohms and a massive 240 into 4 ohms, plays well. Has a light out on the dial. asking $575.

Im also interested in that unit, but i emailed him seeing if he'd be interested in a trade. I would be more interested in the $400 range. Not $489 either

I paid $749 for mine back in June at Craigslist here in San Francisco. While I was looking at it, the seller was still getting calls on his ad. So that price is a good deal and he will sure get more money on ebay if it is cosmetically decent.

I went to his house and bought the speakers. I'm happy! I posted this thread...

The receiver is still there - I saw it and besides being dusty (it's in his garage), it's nice and sounds REALLY GOOD. Huge sucker! He's a good guy. He's not on AK or SMAC, doesn't sound interested in joining either. But he knows what he has. Still, he's not looking for killer prices, just fair prices. And he like audio guys who know what they're talking about.

He has a garage so full of audio gear that you can't walk in it and he wants to get rid of it. He said he is putting it on on CL. He said he had no problem if I wanted to give you guys a heads up so you get first shot at it. Check my link for details.

In Detroit, can't you buy a foreclosed house for that much dough? :scratch2:

Location-location-location.

Diane: Actually, I'd like to join you,
but I have class tonight.

Rodney Dangerfield: How about tomorrow night?

Diane: I have class then, too.

Rodney Dangerfield: Why don't you call me when you have no class?

:D

Yeah it was hyperbole...the point was too obvious though: that the demand curve varies (so ebay or bartertown from local depressions, go local if relative prosperity abounds).

Are you kidding me????
$489 is stealing it!!! Run and get it!!!
You snooze on this and it will be gone in a heartbeat!

What are you thinking?

I stopped by and saw him last weekend; the receiver is gone. He got what he wanted for it, and it was more than $489. I'd say it was worth it.

He's got a bunch more stuff that's going to be going up on CL. His prices are fair, but not rock-bottom "don't know what I've got" cheap. So keep your eyes peeled.
