Marantz 2385 recapped or not

What would the average value or cost of a working 2385 be versus a fully recapped restored unit? Is it worth the extra $$$.

For most brands, I would say a re-capped amp is more valuable than stock. Take a look at 9090DB prices and the huge bump for a restoration from a known tech. Marantz is a little different. I have seen re-capped 2500's that didn't reach market price. Other receivers like the 2325 get a premium.

I have seen about 15 being sold on ebay. The range is around $500 to $1,025.
If you can get a nice one for 500-600 and spend another 300-400 you have a great receiver for another 10-15 years.

Can you get one recapped for 300-400, I assumed it would cost almost double that to recap one? So can you find fully recapped restored ones for less than a $1000?

I would say yes. Make sure the job was done by a reputable tech and that the caps are 105 degree.
