I have a chance to buy a Marantz model 7T pre-amp, Marantz amp model AT 561 all in excellent shape for $150. Is it worth it?

I think I lost it. It's in VT where I live but a guy is coming from Mass to pick it up. If he's not there by noon it's mine. I hope he doesn't show up.

Drive faster than the other guy....

150$ mint is a steal... Construction on the 7t is top shelve...

That's funny why didn't I think of that. Well I still have the 2275 coming. It shipped out today. Happy New Year

Rub it In,I lost it. I could have got there way before the the other guy but he promise it to him DAM

Hello 2string1,

Don't feel bad, all of us have experienced the same loss. Just stay diligent and you will be on the winning end of one of these deals someday.

BTW, I just missed out on an original owner 7T Console, 23 Tuner, 15 Amplifier and pair of Imperial speakers that changed hands on Christmas Eve. They were in excellent working and cosmetic shape, being sold because the owner had just received a new HT system. He also offered delivery and was open to offers if his asking price was too high, which was lower than your deal :sigh:

Regards,
TB

You should have gone over and sat there until 12:01 and then claimed it. To help the time go better you could have brought over some Tennessee medication by that famous doctor - Jack Daniels to share with the seller.

Just to comfort you a little -- while you missed out on a good deal, probably not worth too much agonizing. The 7t was the replacement for the 7c, which was tubes and probably one of the great preamps of all time. The 7t shared its ravishing good looks, but not the sound. It has the clarity and lack of distortion of solid state, but also the transistor sound. Good, but not great. Build quality is top notch, but its an old component by now, so might need repairs and parts might not be neccessarily easy to find.
And other stuff is just waiting out there for you...

Rocko done it....

Sorry you didn't get it. It is good to know the seller had the good character and kept his word to the first guy. Too bad you were not the first guy.

It was an 8 hour round trip for me thanks to the snow. My Wife thinks I'm insane, but that's nothing new. Me, I think it was totally worth the trip.

Rocko
