This shot shows the MC275 50th Anniversary Limited Edition MC275 amplifier with some of the accessories it comes with. Gloves, the MC275 History Booklet and the bag that contains all of these plus the manual and mono jumpers. The amp will be limited to 275 units for the US market.

Man, that is elegant, Ron - both the big system and the amp, although I suspect the limited production will be sold out quickly.

Hope the show was good for Mac, too! Gotta keep them doggies movin'! (a la Rawhide...)

The function indicator LEDs under the small tubes are a hit with McIntosh owners and the press that see them, just like the tubes in our preamps. You can control the illumination with a McIntosh preamp of course.

Will there be a "regular" version of this amp? Hard to imagine that the engineers went through all the trouble just to sell a few hundred units...
 
I find the LEDs under the tubes extremely tacky and would, if in that market, look for an older MC275 or buy an amp from another manufacturer.

Luckily for Mc, these decisions are up to people with more in their bank accounts than I have.
 
Does it sound like a regular mc275 or is it any audible improvements besides all the LED's (which I actually like, makes it quite unique :-)) bindingposts, and gloves? :P
 
The signal to noise ratio has increased again and is 5 dB better although the current MKV is a very low noise amplifier. The Patented McIntosh binding posts will work with larger speaker cables and are a perfect fit with the upcoming McIntosh cables and will work great any other design or bare wire for that matter.
The sound remains classic MC275 with a bit more refinement.

Yep, IMO the only glow that should be coming from a tube, is it's own. Nice product, though. I'm sure it sounds just fine.
 
Did this amp come with a special matching preamp like the MC75 60th Anniv Monoblock amps?

What is the preamp that matches up to this ?
 
I love the looks of that amp and the improved binding posts for the speakers. It is a shame to limit it too a few hundred units. I suspect McIntosh has plans to keep the MC275 in the line up for awhile. The sound of the MC275 Commemorative bowled me over when I heard it in the 90's. I just could not afford it at the time. :tears:

The green illuminated tubes are growing on me. I thought they were supposed to change color with the increase of power like a meter. Maybe I read the press release wrong.

So can you confirm that the green glow can be turned off? I would think that should satisfy everyone.
 
You would think so? The amount of negative comments by keyboard jockeys who have never seen a new product is just the nature of the web.

I will let everyone in on an observation, women really like the tube illumination. That can work in many ways of course!

Why wouldn't you just turn them off if you didn't like them?
 
The best performance and looking tube amplifier out there. There is no other tube amp that can compete with this one. Really nice MC275 LED or no LED.

I think it is best to look at this amp in real life than in a picture.
