MC275 Manufacture date

How can you determine the manufacture year of a specific MC275 and where is the serial no. located?

Generally stamped on the chassis.
A quick call to Binghamton will get the right answer, quickly.

Thanks for the help. Here is what I tracked down....According to McIntosh the serial numbers (S/Ns) are not referenced to a specific manufacture date. You can speculate on the approximate date since the MC275 began it's manufacture run in June 1961 starting with S/N 100E1.

Apparently, the 1961 to 1970 units (speculation on my part) the S/N is stamped on the inside of the chassis and the later run the S/N is on the back of the amp on a white sticker with 2 or 3 letters followed by 4 numbers.

Chassis S/Ns have no meaning.

Yes they have !

The numbers on the side of the chassis are there to track the unit when serial number disappear
A long long time ago when we called the factory with this numbers they were able to tell the serial numbers of the unit ....
Today files a gone and nobody take care of that ...:thumbsdn:

Good catch on my post quote "Chassis S/Ns have no meaning". I was looking at a vintage 245 for purchase and wanted to know the built date. The 245 had two ID numbers stamped on the chassis: a 6 digit number and the other a combo number-letter ID. My reference was intended for the 6 digit number since the number-letter combo ID is the S/N. Apologize for the confusion.
