Mcintosh Neon Signs etc

Here.
You are on your own regarding the signs. Some dealers will give them away, some like mine won't. :sigh:

The "Holy Grail" of dealer signs is the R778, which is the fullsize case with a glass front and "McIntosh ... Made in the U.S.A." as the lettering. There is no switch on the unit - you just plug it in and a flourescent light comes in a couple of seconds to illuminate the sign.

Attached is a pic of the R778 from Bernier's website.

I was lucky enough to get an R788 at a McIntosh dealer who was retiring/closing down after several decades of being a dealer. I got the sign for a phenomenal price, partly because it was clear that I wasn't just going to throw it up on eBay. Not only did I get the sign, but it came in the factory original and correct R778 double box!

My local dealer in Indy has at least 2 of those but I think he wants $1000 each for them.:sigh:

I guess that means that $200 was a pretty good price!

Go ahead Rob, rub it in ;)

Let's face it Ivan, $2K to you is - relatively speaking - probably the equivalent of less than $200 to the rest of us ... which is fine. I think it's great that there is someone on this forum who has the means to play with Mc equipment without regard to cost. That gives us all the ability to vicariously see what a "push the limits" system is like without just reading about it in a magazine ... well, until the next issue of Home Theater comes out.

For the rest of us who live closer than you to the center of the income distribution curve, a find like this is gloatworthy!

There are a number of such signs available on ebay. you might need to do some customizing to get the green glow that you want. Just search on "McIntosh sign".

Ignore the text on the pic, I'm recycling a picture from another post.
