Yes, and probably obsolete within a year. 3D Blu-Ray is just around the corner.

McHomeTheater can be upgraded this way: You can trade your MX136 for the MX150 without having to change your amplification setup.
I don't think 3D is going to be a good fit for 99 percent of homeowners.
Funny, the same could be said for McIntosh. McIntosh gear is pricey. When it comes to two-channel audio, at least you can make a good argument (based on component durability and high resale value) that you're getting your money's worth. I don't see how you can make the same argument when it comes to home theater gear (other than perhaps amplification), and particularly with a format like Blu-Ray, which remains a work in progress.

true, but for about 25% of the difference, i can get a denon, integra, or the like, and it will work better, if not as good. just not worth it in home theater. noise is noise. audio is much more subjective and sensitive.

even though i have mcintosh for home theater and 2 chnl, mcintosh dose not make great sence for HT, they do NOT take trade ins on their procs like they do with their amps, and they are also slow to come out with new formats, plus they charge a arm and a leg for them. If its for HT, other then the amps, I would say save alot of your money, go with other brands that lead that area, and you can even upgrade.
The best bet if you want to stay american made is B&k, great stuff for HT sound, and Upgrade.
Like I said i spent twice as much to do a all mcintosh set up for 2chn and Ht and I am stuck with out being able to upgrade my proces. Though I did go for the esoteric in universal player because as much as i love mcintosh, they dont come close to a dv-60,
live it, learn it, and for gods sake save it

I don't want to say I told you so, but...two months ago, I put out a post about this, based on info from a Mac rep, and was roundly disbelieved and scoffed at, especially by Ron C, who called it "more fantasy." He was probably sworn to secrecy, though, so I don't blame him.

Not me. It makes sense for those who are attracted to the glass front panel and have the money to buy them, but not for me. I personally prefer Japanese electronics like Denon or Sony for fast evolving technologies like Blu-ray. There's a reason why McIntosh does not take non-power amp/preamp for their 75% trade in program.

I think the 75% only applies to amps, not CD/DVD players.
