Check Roger Russell's site for info on those.

Not sure but those might have been made after Roger Russells stay with Mcintosh. If I am not mistaken those are not the greatest speakers, I like how they changed the series model not the XR series but a XRD, I think the D must stand for down in quality. Some of the XRT's are pretty nice, T must have stood for Top of the line.

I hate how many times people use the word "Rare"! You see them for sale all the time so the only thing rare about them is that they changed out the bass drivers instead of refoaming them.

That looks like a cheap.
Do they really make speakers like that? Please tell me these are better than they look. :sigh:

looks like the woofers have been replaced in those it looks as though there is writing on the dust cap. I saw someone do that to a pair of kappa 9's they just bought different drivers of the same size and thought it wouldnt make a difference.

Yup Mcintosh really IMO was not as much a quality speaker company as it was a audio electronics company. Their early model speakers were not that great either IMO, but as Roger Russell got more involved they did build some pretty good speakers. Some of the XRT series were pretty impressive, and sounded very good.

I'm shocked at the cheap/shoddy appearance.

What kind of terminals are on the backs of these speakers? They look like the cheap push in type..
