McIntosh Turntable Poll

After all, had someone asked us, we might, just might, have said in jest that it MUST have blue meters on it.
Probably not a bad idea for McIntosh to tap into the multi-opinion potential of future product development in a group such as ours, you never know what good ideas can come out of it. It's never a bad idea to listen to your customers, at least once in a while.

Well, I am pretty much speechless. :headscrat

Is this a Mc-Joke??? It certainly looks like one. My VPI HRX looks like art v this Mcjoke.

A couple of hints for styling as long as they have got the basics correct.

- keep the front bezel, however shrink the size so it is flush with the plinth.

- ensure it has a black acrylic/steel/aluminium composite platter, at the very least keep it black and get rid of the perspex.

With just those two changes will at least make it look decent and not a McJoke.

On PS Audio's forum, Paul McGowan does just that. He showed some sketches of a new transport to mate with the Digital Link III. Great site too, BTW.

... I am in favor but am not sure about the pricetag is it confirmed 7000?...

what does the blue meter show? 0/33/45/78 perhaps?

But we can all agree that it isn't a rebadge job, right? :)

Oh Lordy Lord! Those who dislike Mc must be having the time of their lives! Even the Japanese market can't be crazy enough to buy this?????:nono:

I have no problem with a thick platter for stability but it should be in black. Dumpt the rest of it completely and make a good looking 1-2 inch thick platform. Centralise the platter on the platform and get rid of those silver sides that are meant to match the rest of mc gear. If you really need silver make it horizontal sandwiched in between two slices of black.

Without wishing to be rude, this is awful beyond words. I am still cringing.:dunno:

It hurts to look at, & I love everything Mac; well that is till now...

What astonishes me, is that over the past 40 years, McIntosh have always been very sensible with thier designs, usually always played it safe, never taking any severe, dumb marketing risks.

This McTurntable looks like a McNightmare.

If I would've seen the pics somewhere else, I would've thought somebody mocked this up as a joke.

More than likely, this Turntable will be worth some big bucks, as I'll bet it will be the only one in existence. The designer needs to be beech-slapped on this one.

Evidently, somebody at McIntosh has got some big Cajones to take this farce to CEDIA. Mark

Actually all McIntosh has to do is make this table in gold limited edition livery and buy an ad in Robb Report . Of course another big box would be needed for the power supply and digital interface so that you can record onto your MS300/750. The price should be closer to $12,000 and the turntable needs a remote which can effect cartridge loading and a sophisticated rumble filter.

Well the McInJoke Turntable is now out in the real world.

see link to audioasylum vinyl alsylum. Most people all ready think that Mac owners have no hearing, all this turntable does is reinforce we are also blind. just wait til it finds its way to audiogon.

Hopefully McIntosh are reading these posts and worse still I just hope it is not based on Clearaudio parts as it will also sound like **** as well.

I wonder if there is a matching dustcap ?

If it would have been a plain and simple Denon or Marantz rebadging job, now that would have been dissapointing and a turn off.

Lets wait and see how this TT performs...I kind of like its unconventional approach and McIntosh DNA shining through, albeit in a not so subtle way.

There is some stiff competition out there from established thoroughbreds in the 7k price region...and it will have to match or outperform them all to stand a chance.

But he guys...give McIntosh some credit for thinking out of the box, no pun intended...maybe this ugly duckling will soar like a swan, once the needle hits the groove.

Are we sure this isn't a photoshopped gag?

That is what I thought when I saw the photo--I am still hoping it is, and the new McTable is a sleek, simple, ultra silent, well-designed turntable...of course, you have to remember, I live in New Orleans and believed the promises of levee repairs...

I'll bet it looks fabulous with the automatic motorized retractable black acrylic dustcover in place
