McIntosh Turntable!

Speaking of Thorens, did you see this on their site?I want one!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.thorens.com/en/thorens.index.php?id=en_210_0_1_18

This is a direct replica of the vintage TD160, .. well almost as its now without one switch (lowering of the tonearm) on the right of the plinth.

However, it does have the "spring" quanlities of old. I have seen it and the price over here is about S$3500 .... about US$2340 ..... relatively "affordable" as compared to many high end TT marques today ... and it includes an arm ......

Understand there are wood options besides the black one shown.

Cheers!

Jerry,

Check out the TD 550 coming out Fall 2007 on their web site.

They did at one time. They had two moving coil cartridges, the MCC-800 and MCC-1000, and a matching preamp, the MCP-1. They were offered in the mid80s. A tonearm was also briefly considered but with the CD coming on strong, was decided against. See Roger Russell's site for details.

The tt we know as the Sota (Robert Becker) was to be a McIntosh, and the arm that we know as the Graham was to be the McIntosh arm.....read all about it in the glorious book........"For the Love Of Music".......

Woof!

Thats a hunk of change and puts in league with some serious players in that price range. I was thinking it was going to be more along the lines of a scout master in price. Its going to be interesting to see how it compares to its peers.

Model is a MT10.

Retail is 7k.

Yep. Let's not forget the competitors have had years upon years to perfect and polish their designs, so the MT10 has some work cut out for it to be even considered in that price range. A better approach may have been to stay below the $3k mark and "blend" in with the rest. I guess we'll see. Let's have some faith in the McIntosh name. :smoke:

Who knows?

I could be the MT10 turns out to be a killer even at $7K however it would take a couple of years for that to be established. In the meantime, I suspect those already into vinyl won't be so quick to purchase a totally new entry to the market. While the McLabel crowd will no doubt take the plunge, believing it's the world's best :scratch2: But that's OK, if it gets them into vinyl

As far as a mcintosh source a turntable would be nice but what really would fire me up is a MCD202 and/or a MDA100.

Both are products of my imagination, "affordable" and super cool. :smoke:
