MCS Left Channel No Sound.

That you hear the click after you power it up is a very good sign. That's the relay opening (well, closing to complete the circuit). That means the amp section is fine, and functioning properly. Your issue now is cleaning all the WD-40 out of the switches by getting some correct electronic contact cleaner. Do not power up the receiver until you have thoroughly cleaned away all the WD-40 from anywhere it has been sprayed. Let it dry out completely. Then, see if it powers up.
 
Dammm. I asked everyone before buy it.

How do I remove that. I have not clue, what kind of product. I live in Mexico. Nobody here in this city can give me a good advice.

It there any hope that the amp stay alive? I will have to wait till Monday to do something about it
 
It's a very well built amp, so hopefully it can be saved. I don't know from experience what damage WD-40 can do to electronics, but it may have damaged delicate parts within the switches. The equalizer knobs turn variable resistors - which may either short out, or dissolve the circuit traces and contact points.

Try and locate contact cleaner that is specifically for electronics. Use that to clean away as much of the WD-40 as you can. Let it all dry out for a good length of time. Then cross your fingers, and see if it still works. If not, take it to your technician - tell him what has been used, and see what can be done to fix it. If only the equalizer circuits were damaged (if they were), they could be by-passed by your tech.

"WD40

It eliminates the humidity of switches and control panels, avoiding short circuits. Cleans electrical contacts as well as small motors restoring their original operation"

i went to the street where all electronics in this city are, and that was the recomendation. I am not sure if i can find another product. :(
 
The WD in WD-40 stands for "water displacement". It does this by lubrication - to eliminate squeaks and free up stuck things. It may not be good for delicate electronic components like carbon.

A proper cleaner will dissolve oxidation - that is what is causing the "shorts" in your sound. Switches and variable resistors ("pots") are delicate metal contact points that need a cleaner that removes any oxidation, while also lubricating the contact points. This will restore the circuit, and the sound.

Ask your tech about what you have used, and find out what he suggests. I'm hoping it's fixable.

I'm not sure about that. There will be a lot of residue from the WD-40 that will need to go away before you apply contact cleaner. I've read where some use a solution of "simple green" and distilled water to get rid of the WD-40.

The active ingredients in Simple Green are:

  • Water. ...
  • Butoxyethanol. ...
  • Mixed Alcohol Ethoxylate. ...
  • Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate. ...
  • Sodium Citrate. ..
So some chemical similar to that mix should work fine. This is uncharted territory for me, so maybe someone else will chime in with a better solution.

I also would ask your tech for advise. After it's cleaned, then treat the switches and controls with contact cleaner, and maybe follow that with some type of protectant for electronics. That may help prevent future oxidation to some degree.

If (and that's only an "if") there has been damage to any part of the equalizer board, it could be bypassed by your tech. That would be my path to fixing it.

Keep any cleaners and liquids away from the speaker relay (the box that clicks when you turn the unit on) and the tuner capacitor. Also make sure everything is dry before trying to power it up.

Hopefully a bunch of stuff didn't short out due to power being turned on and possibly wet WD-40 all over inside the receiver.
Another problem with WD-40 is it can leave a gunky finish that can collect dust/dirt/debris so the more you can get off before using the proper product the better.
This is a hard lesson to learn, I hope you can make it right.
If you can't get DEOXIT D-5 or CRC QUICK DRY contact cleaner in your town can you buy it online and have it sent to you?
The CRC is probably the more cost effective product (though Deoxit is probably more popular for cleaning electronics/stereo gear) as it's a larger can for a little less money.
Depending on how much WD-40 is still in the unit you may want to get more than one can if you have to buy it online.

As Rob mentioned, do NOT get any chemicals on the tuner gang or you'll most likely have FM problems as well.

I saw that. WD 40 it is not
Electricity conductor so I hope it doesn't damage nothing badly.

Can't I just apply the contact cleaner over? Clean switchs with a "pure green" like product seems to me worst . Off course I don't know nothing about it :(
 
Ok in this photos yo can se the two defeat buttons which were more affected and the ines who are making more trouble. They have WD 40 all over it. I have to remove all of that no doubt. I wondering how to doing, I don want any drop of "
Degreaser" product fall into any circuit

The other switches which recive more WD 40 was bottom switches.

I will search for a

I doubt the WD-40 hurt anything, it simply did not help anything.

The CRC contact cleaner should not be used on anything other than a switch. It is very aggressive, and leaves no lubrication.

Deoxit is the best for you, D5 for everything, and F5 for all potentiometers, like volume controls.
