Working on a Pioneer SX-626 tuner alignment. Does anyone have a source for metric alignment tools? Specifically 2.0 mm hex. Thanks.

Hi
5/64”=0.078125” ~=2mm, should work
Try to get GC AS-9300 and AS-9302

Not sure myself either for that amazon philmore set, does not look like too many hex in there.
So the Aven set from digi-key? does not have that 2mm hex? that’s a shame. I searched it’s from amazon
I know for the ha1137 quad coil that there are two slugs, the bottom being the null core which in some cases needs to be accessed from the bottom but that means dealing with a mess of wires unless you have a tool that is long enough to go through the top slug to reach the bottom slug.
I have a old Armaco set that does that
Jonard is another possibility
Some more possibilities

Search eBay for GC alignment I see a few types

GC shows what sizes their kits contain

Good luck

I'll just plug the Coilcraft TriTuner again. Its small hex end is 2mm. It won't help with "blind" lower cores, but other than that, it's just dandy for (I believe) any hex core you'll find in any Pioneer made since circa the tube era.

Edit: Oh, and the Coilcraft also has the larger-format hex, for your aligning pleasure with older gear. (And a ceramic straight blade, too, but it's fragile - at least, I busted mine. I use an Aven ceramic now.)

For blind cores with the small hex format, I recently got a whole Aven set in the hope of getting one tool that's good for those. I haven't tried it in earnest yet, but I'm not hopeful. It is clearly a looser fit in the same cores that the Coilcraft fits with authority.

Another good tip. I was able to use an Aven hex to get to the lower core of the tank for the Ratio Detector, so that worked fine. Going to look into the Coilcraft.

Thanks.
