I know that he has offered excellent service to many. I however, was ignored and despite my better judgement sent him money for parts with an explanation ( as recommended by many users) and never got anything in return.
If you look at any of the boards regarding his customer service you will find as many detractors as supporters for him.
Small business, overwhelmed and all that. I just don't get it.
Parts Connexion, Handmade, Sonicraft etc, all offer alternatives - you just have to weigh in with your tolerance for this .
I've had good luck.. Last time I did biz with him, I called, placed order over the phone. Then he e mailed an invoice. Ship was a little slow, but I always got it that way. Parts connexion mentioned above is always very fast, as is handmade, antique, and others.
I've bought parts from Michael Percy many times and always had a good experience. He runs a one man shop, so he's occasionally out of the office and not responsive for a day or two. But he's always given me a bill for what I wanted and then shipped promptly when I sent money via paypal. The last time I bought parts from him was January of this year (2015). The email address that you mentioned worked fine at that time.

p.s. in the past he also used the email address michael at percyaudio dot com
I always had good service from Percy Audio in the past, although it's been a while since I ordered from him. Handmade Electronics...in my opinion...is absolutely awesome in price, shipping, and customer service. It is my go to place for parts. :thmbsp:

I gave up on Percy some years back. At the time I was into some project and needed some things. I'd done ok before, so even though I knew he wouldn't be very fast I ordered anyway as I like supporting the small guy and his selection of quality parts is good.
So I'm straining and waiting and waiting wanting to continue. After several weeks I got an email that he was going on vacation and simply going to delete all pending and restart after the time off.
So ever since, I've just found it easier to go with one of the bigger, more professional places and consult his pricing from time to time as a reference.

He must make quite a profit to feel he can do something like that. All the small business owners I know would never consider cancelling pending orders just to go on vacation. They might go on vacation, but they'd tell their customers that they would be closed for a bit and all orders would be filled when they got back.
I've bought from Percy before, and always eventually got what I ordered, but it was always a lot more hassle than dealing with somewhere like Handmade or Parts Connexion, much less Mouser or DigiKey.
