Mitsubishi DA Stack Score

Thanks for all the comments and tips :thmbsp:

Terry, thanks for the detailed explanation of the start up and shut down with the amp and pre. That is what I have been doing.

Seems the engineers put a lot of thought into this gear. Very cool the way they are modular and you have some options on how to present and use them.

I get a fair amount of nasty static and some pops for the first 10 minutes or so when my DA-A10DC is just warming up. I just leave it on and turn everything else on and off.

Obviously something not quite right with that. Could be something simple as a solder connection, or it could be a noisy transistor or leaky capacitor. The speaker relays sometimes go intermittent, which can cause a sratchy sound, but I don't think it would cause pops. Maybe just one of the level pots is dirty. Both channels doing it?

Terry

shhhhh !

I got my DA10 amp and matching pre for $200 simply because they are "under the radar" .... had to buy another DA10 just to get the meters that were with it !

Clean, robust , and very pretty .... anyone who sees it needs to go up and touch those sculpture-like heatsinks

Promise not to say anything about them other than here !!

I don't recall if it was both channels, I'll have to check.

mitsu stack

hi ive got the same stuff cept have the 150wpc amp.very under rated gear in my estimation.had my pre amp and amp serviced re capped my amp probly didn't even need it.they sound and look beautiful will never part with them.good luck with them.the meters are for the three models of mitsu apms only I believe and are calibrated appropriately.if u get a chance can u confirm the continuity on that special cable I don't have it but want to make one.thanks.

I'm pretty sure they are 1:1. Even if you get it wrong, no damage will occur. One pin is ground (of the power amplifier) and the other two pins go to the 'low side' of the two speaker relays in the amp. All the pre-amp or meter does through the cable is to connect one or the other or both of the speaker relays to the ground. So no matter what you do, no damage can result. You might not turn on the speaker you expect to, but nothing will be damaged.
FYI, the speaker switch on the amplifier must be in the OFF position for the remote switches to work. Setting it to the OFF position provides the ground to the cable.
What do you plan to use for a connector? I've never seen one like it anywhere else.

Terry

I can take a picture of the cable if any one is interested. Almost did not grab when I picked these up.

And if you aren't talking about the amp to VU meters cable , and you do have one, please post as well. I am set to go sans cable : been thinking about making one... like to see an original if anybody has one. Thanks
