Mitsubishi LT-30 restoration

There are 2 belts that operate the tonearm. Also there are several photo sensors and associated lites and adjustments to check. Download the service manual from the vinyl engine site and read this thread from the beginning to end . Alot of good info there that helped me fix mine and I contributed some as well. That is a fine turntable. Well worth the time to read as much as you can about it here. Good luck with it.

I haven't posted for a long time but my Mitsubishi LT-30 is still running strong! To me, its a fantastic turntable and has given no trouble (after the restoration that is).
Just wanted to let everyone know!

Just received one of these tables last week for cheap, got lucky. Took off tonearm and have to replace both belts. Also, only one of the three Sensor Lights was turning on at power up. Replaced all three bulbs, and still only the one light works. Is this normal for only one to light up at power on? Haven't had a chance to run it yet since still waiting for belts.

Thanks

Probably a long shot but I was wondering if anyone had a tonearm they were willing to part out. Don't ask me how but I managed to crack the small circuit board in the tonearm while working on it. Was hoping to find a replacement somewhere. I'm really bummed because table was in great condition

Thanks

Yea good luck finding used parts. My friend has been looking for a counterweight for years, you need to find a whole turntable to use for parts. Since they are so robust, even the beat up ones are worth restoring vs parting out.

I actually tried jumping the points on the board but to no avail. Unfortunately, I think that servo switch that is attached right there was also damaged, it doesn't seem to open and close the same. However I am a complete novice at this so probably fixable. Going to try and find someone that knows what they're doing. Thanks guys

Trying to restore a LT-30 for my son. Given to him by my brother. Went through and replaced both belts that had become piles of goo. Rather than trouble shooting each bulb, I replaced all the mini-bulbs except for the two servo ones. Also had to reattach the wire that drives the tonearm. Thanks for all the great information that guided me through all those steps. However, when I turn the unit on and press start, the tonearm lifts, moves slightly to the left, and then immediately stops and returns to the rest position. Any thoughts on what might be causing the problem? I am a novice and at a loss on how to proceed. The arm will move to the left "manually" (e.g., when the turntable is lifted on the right hand side). Once in this position, the drive line will move the tonearm back to the rest position on its own. Thanks

Lots of work, but you can glue the board together and jumper the broken traces point to point.

Just determined that tracking service switch probably still good so must have screwed up the jumpers. any chance you or someone can draw a simple diagram indicating where I should jump the points based on where the crack is. Would be a huge help, want to save this thing..20200221_151406.jpg

Found the problem with the tonearm not moving across the record. In reassembling the unit after installing the vertical lift belt I installed the slit plate in the wrong position. Based on photos in this thread, moved it to the right position and the tonearm assembly now moves left and right properly. Next problem is that the servo will not engage. It seems the "ON-OFF adjustment screw" for the servo is missing. Replacing it with a metric set screw unless someone has a better solution. Thanks

I also checked the servo lights through the red and purple connectors in CONN5 with a multimeter. No needle movement, the mini-bulbs need to be replaced. Trying to go through the steps in the service manual, but Step 2 is considerably less clear than Step 1. Looks like some photos assume pieces are removed that are not in the procedures. In particular, not sure how to remove the vertical lift motor. Can someone walk me through the procedure? Really could use some expertise. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure where you're stuck. Some photos would help.

Me being a dummy, there was no step to unfasten the muting switch PC board. That being done, a couple of questions on getting to the servo light bulbs.

Is it necessary to disconnect the five lead wires or should there be enough slack to avoid this step? Not very good at soldering.

Is there a trick to removing the tonearm from the tonearm base? Mine seems locked in position.

Thanks

Not being good at soldering and doing this procedure is not a recipe for success TBH. Where are you located? Maybe there's an AKer that could lend a hand.

Located in Richmond, VA. Tonearm assembly is removed and can clearly see the two servo light bulbs. Still trying to install the bulbs without disconnecting the five lead wires. Will update on my progress later in the day. Thanks
