I still have a couple unfinished car / truck models in a box downstairs somewhere.As a pre-teen I was an avid model car and airplane model builder. Spent hours trying to make them as realistic as my skills allowed. Wasn't in to glue sniffing. That seemed as stupid as sniffing herbicide for kicks. My go to brand was Revell for what I thought was detail quality and realism. Especially for military aircraft. Wished I'd have kept some of the WWII prop aircraft I assembled. Flotsam & Jetsam they became.

I've got about 20 RC model airplanes brand new in their unopened boxes that I may well never get to. Some real desirable stuff too, off the top of my head is a "Seagull Models Sparrowhawk" and a "Hangar 9 Corsair" with retracts. I know there's a Beechcraft Bonanza with the V tail & retracts in the mix too, I'd honestly have to pull em all out of storage to remember what's exactly in there....

Free French Sherman M4A3 76 . This was a unique tank as it was was one of the very first of this version to see action. Used a left over early version T-23 turret from that cancelled program and a non threaded 76. Never a Sherman fan but I really like this one and a great history behind this individual tank.

Shot a video of the trains running at night. The lights are not anywhere near as bright as in the video. Had some ivy vines with small LEDs that run off of 3 double AA battery pack. There are about 50 lights to a string so the 11 I'm running now the batteries will run for a couple of days. Have another string that I took the battery pack from that will be used for the other buildings. Saw no need to have a wall wart with all the rechargeables. Cat does a voice over.

I remember a story of three JadgTigers from sPzAbt653 destroying a column of Shermans and other vehicles. Narrow path with trees on the side, blocking the escape. Knocked out the lead tank and the trailing tank. Everything left in the middle was sitting a duck.

Yes. Favourite camo scheme. Have done it on a Panther G, JPIV/70 and a KT. If the crew managed to actually get a JT to a good firing spot without it breaking down there was no WW2 vehicle capable of withstanding a hit from the 128mm even at like 4km. only 2 were actually destroyed by Allied fire. The first was from a bazooka shot that penetrated the side low and the whole ammo load went up. The other was a Jackson got one when the inexperienced driver turned on top of a ridge exposing his whole side. But they were impervious to fire on the front. The rest were destroyed by their crews after breaking down, running out of fuel or surrendered. There is a famous video of the commander of ABT 512 surrendering the town of Iserlohn to prevent anymore senseless destruction and death. Man those drivers could really handle those massive tank destroyers. The parking jobs are amazing.

That would prolly put a good dent into an Abrams Chobham panels.
Also, the long-barreled 88s (L/71, Flak 41) were any tankers' worst nightmare.

The Jagdpanther's 88 could still destroy any tank right up to the mid 1960's.
I read that the WH liked troops with farm tractor experience to drive their big cats.
I guess the same with the US Army.
There was this story. I think it was Barkmann commanding a Panther. His long-barreled 75mm (L/70) round went through a Sherman, failed to explode, and hit a tank 50-meter behind it, destroying the second tank. The Germans did have some awesome artillery.
The US Army did, too. Arguably won the ground war in Europe.

The Panther's 75mm gun was better than the Tigers KwK 36 88. But the L71 on the JP and KT was even better
I thought you may like this, if you haven't already seen it. A friend made this scenario about 10 years ago. JgPzIV (Guederian's Ente) in the Battle of the Bulge. He used various-sized paper-punched dots to mask for the ambush camo paint.

Yes that is the disc camo. It's cool and I do have the stencils to do it. I changed my mind on the tank I was going to do after I bought them and I don't think I'll be doing any more tri colour panzers but who knows.
