Mondegreens (Misheard Lyrics).

A former girlfriend's daughter loved the Eagles' "Take it to the Olympics." She also liked the line "There's an award-winning movie opening tonight" in "I'd really love to see you tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley.

It's kind of a lesser-known song, but the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has a song I like called "Ripplin' Waters."

It contains a lyric that goes:

"And you make me feel fine
Warm as the mountain sunshine
On the edge of the snow line
In a meadow of Columbine"

As a former farm boy, that last line has always sounded to me like, "In a metal combine."

This has probably been posted on AK somewhere along the line, buy I thought it was pretty funny.

I had a different problem with that song -- I always heard the line, "I'm not talkin' 'bout movin' in" as "I'm not talkin' 'bout Bolivia".

Billy Idol - How's about a date??

One of my fave's is the Cars - I love to date.....CHICK-UNS! (tonight she comes)

Phil Collins: In The Air Tonight

For decades I sang "hold on" at the end of each line and then recently listened to a cover of the song and thought "That is odd, she changed it to 'Oh Lord'" and then "Wait, is that what it has been all along? It does make more sense this way"

From Arlo Guthrie's Hobo's Lullaby album. "Every day a another man reachs out his hand. Every mornin there's a **** can in the sand" (a shiftin in the sand I think).

Whoa Whoa Whoa

I love the song Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

All these years I thought Stills was singing "you can survive being busted", as in being arrested by the police. It gave me great hope when I got a DUI.

Today, YouTube streamed the song with lyrics, the expression is "you can survive being bested".

What's Up With That ?
Like losing a wrestling match or something ? Gee Whiz.
