Mondegreens (Misheard Lyrics).

Calling all Canadians, eh?

I PM'd Jay and told him he had a 'mondegreen' in his sig regarding Rush lyrics.

Well, it turns out all published lyrics indicate that Getty does say "God" in the song Tom Sawyer...

In my (less than humble) opinion, Getty is saying the word "Guard".

I trust you guys will back me up. :scratch2:

<Tom Sawyer with inaccurate (?) lyrics.

musichal...I'll need your opinion because it's Twain inspired...I'll find the exact time in the song so you don't have to listen to the whole thing. :D

It is at 2:46 into the song 'Tom Sawyer'. He is clearly (to me anyway) saying "guard", not "God". Both make sense.

Missed this when you posted it six years ago, BigElCat, so I'll check it out and let you know what it sounds like to me sometime before another six years pass. Thank you for your patience. Your request is very important to us and we appreciate your patronage. If you know the number of the party you seek, just press the # sign and hang up. If you don't, press any button and hang up. Thank you for using musichal.

He says "God".

The rest of what I said was a self-deprecating joke, something I should not have expressed outwardly at all. I hate myself, and I usually succeed in getting other people to hate me too. It's not what I really want though.

I appreciate your sarcasm, and I shall anxiously await your answer (until Oct of 2025).

Was just going for a little humor, not sarcasm at all, my old friend.

In the Doors "Break on Through", I thought Jimbo was singing:
"I found an island in your arms
poetry in your eyes."
It's really:
"I found an island in your arms
country in your eyes. "
Later in the same song he says Made the scene and I thought it was Make me see. I must've had crappy speakers back then.
I think I like yours better, Bob. But either way is better than mine:

"... an island in your arms
Palm trees in your eyes ..."

Guess my speakers weren't much better.

When I was a young lad, Gerry Rafferty and Steelers Wheel released ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’. I thought I was hearing, ‘Start gettin’ little with you’ At the young age I was, words and phrases didn’t have to make sense
