RIP kind sir. I have spoken to you in this and the LH forum on occasion and "back in the day" purchased some JBL Professional cloth for some speakers I was building. Helped me along the way with installation. A true gentlemen aall the way. God Speed.
 
His nickname here was so ironic. "Zilch" means nothing. And yet this man was completely the opposite. He gave so much to the audio community. I just wish I'd known him better.... :(
 
I sent him a PM in Audioheritage.com and didn't know that he passed away until I read this thread. It's such a pity that a man like him who devoted himself a lot to audio, knowledge and experience for the community has left us so early.

RIP Zilch

Zilch is in heaven listening to the beautiful music from all the Ewaves he inspired us to build, and probably measuring all of them. He is missed, but his inspiration lives on.

RIP Zilch.
 
Ignorantly, I just figured out a few days ago that Zilch had passed away. His death diminishes all of us and his unselfish sharing of his vast knowledge is not to be forgotten.
His posts had become abruptly more terse in December 2010 and I feel that he was trying to wean us off the knowledge teat and encourage us to spread our wings.
What a loss.

To me, the name "Zilch" was synonymous with 'no BS'. That's the way he lived. A 'no BS' kind of guy, and that's what I respected about him the most. Plenty of knowledgeable guys out there, but Zilch used his knowledge in the best of ways - to help others wade through all the BS.

I know he was fond of saying he wanted to get through the "blather".

Even though I barely knew him, he did help me a great deal and I also think about him from time to time. I think many would say the same thing and that is indicative of the impact he had here.

Do it don't talk about it! That's my understanding of that line. Was an awesome guy and I spoke with him a couple of times over the years over on the Lansing Heritage Site. If you google him, you will see that he was a doer not a talker. Inventor as well as audio dude!:thmbsp:
 
Dan's post is a wonderful way to end this thread. We're closing it now, and we're working on a way to make the thread more findable on a permanent basis. As things are, unless someone posts, it fades into the background. One idea is a sub-forum under Introductions for threads of this type, but there are problems with that which need to be ironed out.

Many thanks to all who posted here to honor Evan.
