Jolida FX 10

8"x7"x7", remote control, three inputs, one of which is a front-mounted stereo mini, 4 and 8 ohm taps, self-biasing, runs EL 84s and 12AX7, and, best of all, it sounds really good, and only about $425.

I had one for a while, but it didn't displace my almarro a205. The Jolida was less than half the price, though, and it was close. If I didn't already have my system built around the almarro, I could have lived quite happily with the FX 10.

budget ... < $1500 if I wait and save for a year .... < $700 if I want it soon.
The FX-10 seems nice ... not sure I like the boxy style though. Can you remove the upper frame?

Might be a great way to get into tubes!

which has better sonics ... the Jolida 102 or the FX-10?
I'd go for the 102 if the performance is better.

Yep, the glass case lifts off. Undo the screws, and off it comes.

You've got a pretty good budget. I like the FX 10 better than the 102. The 102 has more power, if that's a consideration. The 102 is a hybrid, tube front end, and SS power section. That said, I heard a 302 with some System Audio 505s, and that was an amazing small setup. Real synergy working there. (The 302 is one power-level up from the 102.) A 302 and SA 705s would be a stunning bedroom system.

Not into the McIntosh look. I like the Prima Luna, Jolida, Cary, Cayin look.

I'll check out all suggestions ... thanks.
The Stingray looks cool but I think it's way more than I need ... sizewise and powerwise.

your question was "most attractive integ. amp?" You didnt say no McIntosh.
you gotta qualify these sort of things.

Are the speakers Studio 20?

The Manley (20 watts TRIODE or 40 watts Ultra Linear), or any other integrated in that wattage range, should be a very nice match. I've owned a couple of pairs of 20 and I would think any amp less than 20-25 WPC won't be enough, unless you'll only be listening at "bedroom" levels. I ran Studio 20 with a Fisher 400 (27 WPC PP) and it was barely enough amp to make them sing.

yes, the Nait 5i is driving the Studio-20s. This is my main system in living room.
I'm looking for a bedroom amp for Energy RC-mini speakers.
Bedroom levels ... modest, mellow, et.

Thx

Then you want an EL84-based amp, and, to me, the FX 10 is the best bargain around, for a new all-tube integrated. I think a remote is very desirable in a bedroom system, and this Jolida has a nice one.

Actually, I do like the retro look of Mc gear. I'm just attracted to the open-tube look. I like the glow of the tubes, etc.

I'm also very interested in what other people think. There may be amps I'm not aware of, etc. So many mfgrs out there I'm finding.

Thx,
Rob

Sorry, you are correct. I confused the 102B and the 1301A. The 1301A was the one that I heard with the System Audio SA 505s. It was rather special for a small system. I have heard the 302, all tube integrated with NOLA speakers, and with some diy.
