Great artwork that "matches" the song titles and includes band members. Especially impressive in LP format when you fold it apart; IMHO a very good album too! The track People is one I use to audition components.

OK, not the best album art but I remember bringing this into 8th. grade music class- Catholic school, 1968. Sister Marie took one look and whacked the hell out of me. She didn't care for the "bad finger" So, it is certainly memorable! Also one of the GREAT Rock albums of all time.

Simple, but effective.

The first issue release in 1968 used a dull gold ink that actually rubbed off on your hands, which led to a lot of speculation ("It's ACID, man!").

1st- Aberfeldy - Young Forever - Original Artwork - Love the album, love the cover, always takes people a bit to figure out what is going on with it, but I believe it fits the album title well

2nd - Doves - There Goes the Fear- Really different, but very creative single cover, plus the song is amazing

3rd - Oasis - Cigs & Alcohol -"That's rockin roll mister" - no need to say more

Creative? Maybe not, but...

The attached cover art has always scared the bejeezuz out of me. It is a "vanity pressing" (ie, the dude paid for it out of his own pocket) LP by a Long Island, NY character named Steve -- all together now -- Kaczorowski. The title of this gem is "What Time Are You?". What's interesting about this one isn't the music, per se, because most of you have already heard most or all of the songs included on this LP. You just didn't hear them with "Steve" singing along to them on a record. Correction: You just didn't hear them with Steve singing lead vocals. That's right, what we have here is karaoke from hell: Steve magically re-engineered an array of existing mainstream hits, by the original artists, and managed to insert a vocal track and thus the songs on this LP feature "Steve" on lead vocals. It's an album of incredibly strange music with that unsettling cover art as the cherry on top of it all. (Steve, if you are an AK member, I apologize for the "scary & unsettling" comments. And I would like you to sign my copy of "What Time Are You?".)

One of the more creative designs I've run across is the U.S. version of Lindisfarne's excellent debut album, Nicely Out Of Tune. The jacket is basically an open-at-the-top style envelope, with a stylized painting of the band members- the actual top of the outer envelope follows the edges of the trees and clouds, with an inner insert that forms the sky for the painting and has the band name/ album title at the top. However, the inner insert can be pulled out to reveal a nice photo of the band on the shore of Holy Island, with the ruins of Lindisfarne castle in the background. The back side of the insert contains the song lyrics.
