Most over rated Band

I hope I can follow the spirit of the original thread here in naming some bands I feel are overrated. Now, mind you, that doesn't mean I necessarily like or dislike anyone in the band---I know nothing about these folks---or dislike all of their music: I just think they are granted a bit too much praise. I agree with a number of the bands already mentioned and disagree with others. So here goes:


Couting Crows---I have no clue why folks like this band.
Wilco---Halfway like them but never would I drool over them like many critics.
Son Volt---I find them dreary and droning.
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer---Ornate and contrived or clever and creative?
Talking Heads---Jumped the shark after "Stop Making Sense."
Pearl Jam---mentioned earlier and I, too, think this group is overrated.
 
I get it. OK, I'll play too. Steely Dan, and the Eagles, and Supertramp, and ZZ Top and Oh, yeah, the Beatles, they ALL sucked!!! Great bands are defined by the likes of Duran,Duran and Golden Earring!!!!!! Great game, what's next?
 
Ok, let's put another wrinkle in the game..........post your ages, along with your tirades! As well as who YOU think are the GREAT bands!!!!!!! This should be great.....

This person is just asking for "opinion" .
Naturally theres going be someone say that either your or my
favorite band is no good. Its just an opinion which is all he wanted.
 
Well I avoided thie thread for a long time, I knew it would read about how it did.

Your all wrong, many of the bands/performers listed did do great music, (Albeit not all of the music made was exceptional) which is not always the best music technically. It ALL has to come together to have emotional impact, and some of the best performances technically, are sterile and flat because there is no emotion behind it. Grade them by their best work, not their worst.

But, one performer not yet mentioned stands alone at the top of the overrated list.

This is starting to sound like my father talking about Elvis Presley when I was a kid.

However, I do believe that more and more these days, the technology is making the music, not the person holding the instrument. Take away the electricity, give them an acoustical guitar, and almost all of them sound like a dog who just had his nuts stepped on. They're (almost) all overrated.

In the mid 60's, I was at a teen fair in Los Angeles, and saw a band called the Knickerbockers play. They had one hit called "Lies". It was a 5 piece band, and at the end of each song, they got up and rotated to the next instrument until they had played them all. Now that was a class act, and highly UNDERrated.

Yeah, I love rock and roll, even at my age, but "acapella" is the final test.
 
I'm with several others here and most of what has been knocked is some of my
favorite music and the bands who produced it are definatly not overrated!

My High school years were through 1984 and most of this music was what we
listened to then and I still do now and still enjoy it very very much.

I do agree bands like, van halen/areosmith/stones/U2/ (AC/DC) have gone down hill
from there early works but that still does not make them overated just the newer
material would be, and how can anyone knock Pink Floyd! Fire up some animals then
just kick back and listen!
 
OK, now my two cents.

These types of threads are overrated.

No not really, they just plain suck, really suck.

I wouldn't read through this garbage for less than 20 bucks. :)

A band that was missing, and I am surprised "unless I missed it"
was Lynyrd skynyrd, there I said it, actually took me awhile to read through this to find a band that wasnt listed, oh yeah Cream is another, also eric clapton
