yeah, Magnvox. I tend to be more concerned about whats under the hood. I'm a car guy too, and long experience has told me that shiny paint doesn't count for much. All too often you see pretty paint jobs on an unreliable specimen.

Nope, two Lincolns and a Chevy. One of the Lincolns I drove with horrible paint for 10 years while making it not a piece of junk where it counted.

Another question, can a 9 pin ss rectifier be put in place of a tube rec? Like the one in pic,its a direct plug in,in place of a tube,i figure itll work but what would the heater pins do now ? Anyone used one? Screenshot_2017-04-16-17-57-26.png

heater pins just won't do anything.

They can work, but sometimes it will have different voltage drop vs the tube rectifier. You can sort it with a resistor underneath, but for all that you can just put a pair of diodes underneath along with it and save yourself some money.

Thanks, one more ques.My amp uses 1 6dj8 pre tube but amp has been making a rustling noise so i pulled the 6dj8 and turned it on and no noise,so i wonder if its that tube or an output tube, pins were clean and i didnt leave it on long ,could the pre have a bad internal joint? I ordered a nos sylvania to replace it.previously when it was doing it i had no input connected and moved the tubes around,to see if it was a pin problem, wiggled them, but no change ,rustling is out of my left channel,i crossed my el84 tubes left to right no change, still in left channel, btw its one el84 per ch not pp .So this leads me back to the pretube,i cant narrow further because it drives both channels ,thanks for any help or similar experiences
