Title says it all. A thread dedicated primarily to modern Surf, Spaghetti, Spy-Fi, Hot Rod, Instro-Mental Mania!!!

You know, Jimi was dead wrong when he said we'd never hear surf music again. Quite the contrary. The genre remains as a vibrant niche' worldwide. It's my area of specialization as far as collecting CDs goes. I focus on surf/instro from the early 1990s to present (aka the 4th wave).

Surf music made a big comeback in the 90s and continues today.

This is the place to post your thoughts, favorite albums of the genre, critiques.

So c'mon all you hepcats, hodads, and gremmies.... let's go Instro-Mental!

What am I listening to right now?

That stuff is right in my wheelhouse. Saw Messur Chups last year and Los Sraitjackets a bunch of times, and members Danny Amis and Eddie Angel in their previous bands.
You will probably enjoy this, still a lot heavier than what you're posting so far. The rhythm section is from Fugazi, the guitarist is Anthony Pirog, who can play and does play nearly every genre.
I'll try to post here when I get into that groove.

There are so many great surf/instro bands out there. A lot contain at least one guitar virtuoso.

Here's another one of my favorites... and like Messer Chups they have the virtuoso Alex Antonio (Argentina) and also have a hot chick on rhythm guitar Marisol Yolanda (Chile).

Los Twang Marvels – Jungle of Twang (2008)

Reverb-drenched ecstasy. The Marvels combine wild Latin roots with primitive R'n'R and a Surf-reverberating guitar.

CD Release Date: May 15, 2008
Label: Kamikaze Records
Total Playing Time: 40:17

Thanks for that. I need to check him out some more. New one for me, just read about him, "tortured artist" exemplified.

Thought I might find you here.

I haven't got any of his albums but have streamed him a lot. His vinyl and CDs are rare and expensive. Have one of his albums on my Discogs wishlist for around a year.

However, just looking on Discogs, there is a 2019 double LP compilation that seems reasonable. Might be a good place to start. the guy marched to the beat of another drum.

compilation

yeah that's from The Numero group label. They have some very interesting titles, bunch of different genres, somewhat eclectic label. In other words a lot of artists I am totally unfamiliar with.

I do have the Husker Du boxed set "Savage Young Du" from them, that's it.

The Dynotones – The Dynotones! (2001)

If you are into instrumental surf rock like I am, this is one to get! Originally released in 2001 and the re-released in 2003 & 2010 due to popular demand.

A great album from a superior band with no filler. Makes me want to jump in my hot rod and go cruising.

CD Release Date: 2001
Label: Part Records
Total Playing Time: 42:56

Devil’s Martini

The Dynotones - Von Zipper's Revenge & Whittier Blvd

I heard a track from the Rhino LP History of Surf Music Volume I on the local freak station, WHFS, back in the 80s and was hooked on reverb.

Plenty of reverb on the Darkside's 1990 effort, All That Noise. A post-breakup spinoff from some Rugby, England band called Spacemen 3.
