Carnival of Souls was an instrumental rock and surf rock revival band formed in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in the early 1990s. Taking their name from the eerie 1962 American cult horror film Carnival of Souls, the band crafted a unique sonic identity by blending traditional 1960s-style surf music with atmospheric, cinematic, and melancholic melodies. Emerging during the early 1990s surf rock revival—a wave that saw global interest in modernizing reverb-heavy instrumental rock—Carnival of Souls stood out by injecting European sensibilities into the traditionally American genre. Rather than focusing solely on fast-paced "beach party" anthems, they frequently drew on darker, cinematic undertones, spaghetti western moods, and dramatic chord progressions. The band stayed active through the 1990s and early 2000s, building a solid footprint in the European independent rock circuit before quietly disbanding between 2000 and 2006.

The Eyeberries are an instrumental hot rod surf and horror rock trio based in Moscow, Russia. Known for a high-octane sound described as "The Cramps on speed mixed with several tequilas," the band bridges the gap between classic surf revival and gritty garage punk. Their music relies heavily on heavy reverb, twangy guitar riffs, and frantic tempos to craft spooky, cinematic soundscapes. Their style encourages listeners to envision their own B-movie monster showdowns or chaotic, retro dance-offs.
