Multiple turntables

I am new here and I currently own six turntables (and if all goes well, seven by the end of the evening). Yes, I am addicted to turntables. I am wondering how others manage having multiple turntables. Do you rotate them all or keep one as a primary and rotate the rest. It seems logical that they need to be used to stay functional. Am I wrong?

There are three turntables attached to my main system in the living room and five attached to my train room system. One in the living room is dedicated for CD-4 records and one mainly for 78s. The other is for regular LPs. The five in the train room are just all ones I have bought over the years.

All are operable and yes, you are correct that a turntable should be used to keep it in good shape.

And welcome to AK.

I now have eight TT's but have three in use at the moment.
In my main room I have the Thorens TD-126 connected to the Sansui AU-9500 via an NAD PP2i, and the TD-150 connected to the same Sansui through its phono stage. In my work shop I have a Sansui SR-1050c connected to my Sansui G-7700 via a cheap Guitar Center phono amp.
All is well.

Any pictures? :D

I have an old digital camera that was my father's but the driver disc got lost and Polaroid doesn't seem to have it on their site anymore. Maybe it will reappear because they do mention they are revamping the site. Until then, I can't take pictures.

Tanks for asking though.

I have three turntables (Dual 1225, Sony PSLX 250H, AR-XA) and the only way I can use all three is to set up three complete systems. Any suggestions on how to set up all three on one receiver (mixer?)...

Off topic I know, but if the camera has memory cards vs. onboard memory, then just obtain a memory card reader and you won't need a driver disk to connect the camera to your computer.

I can't wait to enter my AR XA into the rotation.
It is this Winter's resto project fitted in around my upgrade projects.
A man needs to stay busy you know.

I currently have five in daily use:

KAB Technics SL-1200MK5 w/many mods
Technics SP-15
JVC QL-A7
Pioneer PL-300
Techics SL-23

The SL-23 is just getting some spin time to make sure it's 100% before I find a new owner/home for it. I prefer direct drive units.

I've got two stand alone Bugle Pro phono preamps. The Onkyo receiver in current rotation has two phono inputs. I also have a DJ mixer with two phono preamps and two line level inputs. So I'm pretty well set up to handle multiple turntables.

Ooooh, Bugles; that is on my Winter to build project list.
Must move it up towards the top now.

Lessee...

In the living room is a Linn Axis.

In the basement mancave are three, which I select depending on my mood and the record being played: AR-XA, Dual 1019, Technics SL-1200MK2. I just swap the cables into my preamp to switch tables.

At my office is a first gen SL-1200.

I pretty much have all that I want, although my dream would be to get a Thorens TD124. I wouldn't mind getting a vintage Lenco, Rek-O-Kut, etc. and setting up a dedicated mono rig.

It have found it convenient to have two TTs in a system to allow for quick changes from album sides in musical works that span more than one side. (I listen to a lot of classical and opera which often span several album sides.) Plus a dedicated 78 player and that is about all one needs. :)

I have a total of 5,
Garrard RC121 MKII - lives in an old console, needs parts, possibly will never use this
Garrard RC88/4 - works, will probably get placed into another old console, also to possibly never use
Garrard Zero-100 - works, used regularly on my main system
Thorens TD160 - works, my better table on the main system
Yamaha YP-D4, - retired, probably will get a new cart and either go to the workshop or be gifted

I have 2 phono inputs on the Onkyo I use on my main setup, and I have two tables hooked up. I really can't justify more than that unless I get one that does something the Thorens or the Zero-100 won't do. If I ever get into 78s, I'll need to either add a third, or drag out the RC88 for 78 duty.

thin

I managed to thin the herd. I'm down to 4 here and 3 in the other house.

Tough to find time to use them much....pity.

I listen to music in three locations. Sony PS-X70 in Kitchen/office, with (currently ailing) PS-X50 as backup, Technics SL1710 MK2 in bedroom, and Technics SP25 in living room (with Two backup SP25s and one parts unit SP25).

I also have a few JVC QL-7s and A7s, but needing work.

Plans are to let a few go over the coming year. Three tables, one manual and one semi auto backup.

Seven- that's a lot of machines to keep in rotation.
Using two turntables on adjacent flexi-racks in close enough proximity to a single-input pre-amp for quick change overs. One is a Yamaha GT-2000L with a HOMC Denon110 cart and the other is a Dual 701 with a Shure V15III. While the Yamaha gets much more use, the characteristics of the Dual/Shure combo seem to suit some records better, especially '60s mono recordings.
It's a lot of fun to experiment with both.

I have mine setup in 3 systems, with the 4th as a spare for when the mood for change hits me. I will also rotate all but the PL-L-1000 between systems.

I've got 3 DUALS, 3 Pioneers, a Miracord, and that's not counting the ones in the 8 consoles in the house. The separates get rotated once a month between 2 setups, and the miracord is used as a RCM due to a bad power switch(jumpered out). All the consoles get at least an hour(2-3 sides) per week running.

I use a dj mixer (Gemini UMX SE) with 3 phono ins of reasonable quality. A plus of using a dj mixer is that each phono in (channel) has its own gain.

Most dj mixers have max. 3 phono ins btw (or 2 if its a 2 channel mixer), some 4.

Perhaps something like this could do the trick?
