Music and trains..

Classic stuff, I had a similar loop setup in the 70's. Stereo on one wall of my room, trains on the other. Endless hours of fun, then I graduated to more elaborate benchwork in another building.

Modern model trains now have digital controls ( You think digital causes friction with audiophiles? Try mixing it with model railroaders. ) and sound. Frankly you can't really reproduce a diesel or steam locomotive's sound with speakers the size of half dollars, close but no cigar. I'm waiting to see if someone comes up with a way to use a subwoofer with them. :sigh:

Lug 15 passenger cars, each with tiny transmission line speaker, might work. But you know, THAT WHISTLE doesn't sound like the prototype.....

My American Flyer trains keep my upstairs system company. Nothing like running two loops of 60 year old trains while listening to some 35 year old audio components!

Here is what I currently running.

I used to have a 20 x 24 foot room with large HO layout. All in boxes as no place in current house.

Trains and audio - my two favorite hobbies.

Ah my two weakeness.
I have boxes and boxes of HO rolling stock and what nots from my dads old layout just waiting for me to find the space in the basement.

Food for thought, I believe if it wasn't for trains (real ones) the face of music would be vastly different. The rhythms of the steam engine obviously influenced early blues and in turn rock and roll.

YooooooHoooo! Me too!

I have had N scale since I was 10 years old in 1962 (actually Lone Star Treble-O-Lectric OOO first - 9 mm track).

I have also ended up with our American Flyer trains and HO my older brother had.

HiFi and trains - my two lifetime "loves".
