My Listening Buddies

Half LH dachund and Half Yorkie..A " Dorky". [/QUOTE]

Ha, I love it, a Dorky. I was at the humane society last week signing up for a 5k race. Made the mistake of going back to look at the pooches. I made eye contact with an english bulldog terrier, and he started speaking, like Hey, take me home. I had to leave. As soon as I get my house thing all settled from the divorce, I'm getting a dog. I love dogs.

We have a duck and a skunk.

Bobbysox the duck (her rat terrier) is a rescue from Fairfield, CT - Now 15 years old.
Carmel the skunk (my fiest) is a rescue from Staley, NC - Now 8 years old.
The smoking jungle boy is a rescue from Toronto, Ontario - Now acts like 18 feels like 60 and my ID says I'm 51

no intention to be a bummer at all intended but this was my cat Clemens who passed away awhile ago now (R.I.P). He was the funniest and most irritating and smrt cat i have ever encountered. Mostly it just makes me smile thinking back now..

however in this threads context he was my punk rock buddy when ever I would start playing punk rock (not other types of music...just punk) he would run into the room sometimes he just sit infront of my sub for hours or other times he jump up on my desk or lap and listen for as long as the music kept playing. :music:

I miss this little grey and white bastard very much indeed... I can only hope God is being a good sport about him chewing all the power cords on his computers and audio stuff now.

I had a painting made of my listening buddy digging some toons:

Was thinking about getting a tattoo similar to this but with my dog Dexter. I love that dog and nothing relaxes him more than listening to music. This is what he looks like every time I'm listening to a record.

8 days old..

My wife and I are parents to a silver dapple mini; Gracie. She is very sweet and has good intentions. She looked exactly like that pup when she was a baby. As a Dachshund owner, I am sure you are well aware of their bad habits. Gracie is the fearsome protector of the house, my wife and I, and our son.

Rookie in training...:thmbsp:

Meet Gracie.

Same pic I posted in May. It's from 6 years ago.
Bobbysox (the Rat Terrier) got cancer at 15 years old.
We had to put him down a couple of months ago.
Carmel OTOH hikes 2.5-7 miles with me at a fire road (with hills) around a pond a few times a week.
She did over 6 miles in under 2 hours with me last week so she's turning into a muscular lil mutt.

Midnight Lightning the 9 month old Sato needed new pet humans so she adopted us this past Saturday.
She got rescued off the streets of a city in Puerto Rico at 3 months old.
Then she lived with some older folks near here for 6 months.
They cared for her but she was too much pup for them.
She has trust issues but she's gentle and extremely intelligent.
Here's her "What the hell are you doing with that phone" look.

Carmel and I took Midnight hiking with us today so she's snoozing while Bob Seger sings about Mary Lou.

She's taking to socializing better than I could have hoped.
In three days she's gone from being terrified of everybody & everything to accepting petting from strangers & greeting most new dogs as a friends she just hasn't met yet.
She met about 12 dogs with me yesterday and over 20 today.
She has a long way to go but she's smart and gaining confidence every minute we're on the trail.
Here Fido, bring me my slippers bark bark bark

This is PJ (PooKie Jr.) the neighbors' dog-friendly cat.
Midnight lived with a cat for 6 mos and plays hard with them.
Pookie didn't want to know so keeps her at a distance.
I'm allergic so I can't invite him in to rock out but I think he'd like Sweaty Teddy

Not staged, we walked out and found him like this. I L'edMFAO :D

We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, but one of the cats is outdoors only so it's prety much just the 3 of them who get to hang and listen. All of them like to be in when the tunes are spinning, but our retired bear hunting dog--a rescued coonhound/pitbull mix named Lucy-- is my girl. She's the best, and she really enjoys being in and hearing music.

Here's her in an older version of my setup. Note the forlorn look, hoping for some audio upgrades.

Then there's this one, with some better speakers. She's more lively and involved in the listening experience here.

I don't have a pic yet of her with the current setup but I feel confident in expressing her preference for it as it is now. :D

I lost my listening buddy this summer. It was time. She could give a rats ass for anything I played or how loud I played it: but she would sit there at my feet for hours while I did my thing. HOWEVER....something moving in the woods and she was all over it.

Animals are excellent judges of character. It says a lot about you guys that you have homes where these guys feel comfortable and loved.
