my new stereo

I have all the same mods done to my 1.2's except for the larger circuit board. That sounds like a cool idea of what you're planning on doing to the bottoms and tops. Make sure and post some pics when you get it done. Nothing in the world like recapped and modded 1.2tl's.

Yes originally I had wanted a mr78 having read the reviews. I didn't think I'd be able to find a mint Dewicked one in my price range. So I opted for a mint 9900 with PunkerX's magic done to it. 2 days later a mint 78 pops up with a buy it now that I could afford. I hit the buy it now and figured on selling the lesser of the 2. That would be damn near impossible for me to do. So I'm going to be a hog and keep them both.

Your MR80 is a great looking tuner. I'm betting you're really going to like it. That's a lot of the reason I wanted Mac was on looks alone. Of course having a great performer is icing on the cake or another hole in the wallet. Yep this hobby can be brutal can't it.

I have performed the same mods (RDO, dynamat, larrys rings, gaskets, binding posts, new XO, jb weld driver magnets, mye sound brass spikes, custom interconnect, etc) to my 1.2tl's and am currently looking at upgrading my source components. I am running the Polks with a Pioneer SPEC-1/4 combo but have been reading up on this Emotiva brand lately.

Seems to get a lot of detractors based on political ideology but not many negatives in the sound (especially not the value) categories.

Have you ever compared the Emotiva to something like a Sunfire 300x2 or an Adcom GFA-5802?

Your gear looks great.

Thanks, and about the sunfire or adcom, you might find them cheaper used than a new set of mono's by emo but you wont quite the power they can muster... just saying. you owe it to yourself as an owner of a pair of speakers that can handle well over a thousand watts a channel to at least give them some food. If I had a big enough place to run mine I would be looking for a pair of mc2k amps and i'm sure the polks would at least give them a good warmup. As they say in the racing world, there is no replacement for displacement. It is always better to have more power than less when it comes to power amps. And if anyone has any doubts about the power, build quality and clarity of an emo, I welcome them over and will intently stare at their jaw as it rests on my carpet.:D

That is an outstanding statement of truth. :thmbsp:

New to me "minty" mcintosh tuner. These pics are from the seller. It will be on the front line monday morning to complete my system for a short while. I also bought 2 new albums to fire up the sota this week, "the cars" first album, original master recording mobile sound labs unopened and Rickey Lee Jones, Pirates original master recording mobile sound labs unopened. Should be a good hitch off of work as it was -67 below at work when I got on the plane to head home to Rockwall to thaw out for 2 more weeks! Anyone who believes in global warming needs to come spend a day at my work!
