Hello, Please, need some assistance on my 1300MK2. I have just received the shapeways steel bushing and have pushed it nearly halfways on and now I meet some resistance, how should I proceed?

Don't let anyone tell you this is easy.

I'd rather be rebuilding automatic transmissions compared to this crap.

SEE THE Hidden spring under main plate bolt..... why ?? If it's tightened all the way down, why ?? LOL

By the way, the bottom plate can be maneuvered so you can pull the rest of the components through the center of the bottom plate and get it out of the way completely.

NOW to clean everything. I'm going to remove the little circlip holding on the knurled brass roller and clean it all, it's just a bit sticky.

.........I also noticed that the disassembly instructions blog page I am refering to in post #15 no longer exists. I edited that post and also make a note here that I can send a pdf file with the instructions to anyone needing them. It's 4,5MB long and can't upload it here.
Edit: Scratch that. With a little bit of "creative destruction" I was able to convert to a pdf with resampled images (for the worse) and size went down to 1MB, just enough to fit.

I realize this is an older post but wanted to thank @SaSi for posting the PDf version of this. I'm working on an SL-1310 Mk2 and this is invaluable. I have some experience with turntable repair but this is my first SL-1xxx repair and having a detailed tutorial is awesome.

I admit to not having read the entire thread but wonder if it has not been addressed if one can simply clean the cueing lever mechanism and add the appropriate silicone fluid in order to use the turntable as a manual.

Of course I could just repair the broken subject part as one has to disassemble anyway but thought I would ask. I bought a 1300MK II this past Summer for just over 200.00 and I have used it it, albeit lifting the arm gently by hand at the end of the record is somewhat tricky!


Are there any aftermarket arm lifters available for a simple fix assuming one could do so?


By the way, any suggestions on a cartridge that mates well with the tonearm? Using a Pickering XUV 4500Q currently.

Mine's a 1400MKII with a broken cueing lever and, yes, you can use the tt as a manual. There's a thread in either vinylengine, here, or youtube where someone repaired the broken piece by wrapping thin wire. I've tried fixing it with only glue and it didn't work.
