My newly purchased Polk SDA's caught fire!

I've seen speakers catch fire from having used flammable insulation inside the enclosure. I have also seen spiders and cones that have been charred. Cerwin Vega, EPI, and Boston come to mind. Big receivers from the 70's could be very dangerous for dynamically challenged speakers. Hope fully the issues have been corrected in modern designs. I burned up a pair of Eminence woofers in Klipsch La Scalas using a Crown P2SA, but fortunately only the voice coil insulation charred. There we 4 more La Scalas that continued to operate. From then on I went back to A7 500's. with either QSC or Mcintosh power amps. I had failure issues with Eminence woofers used in professional and entertainment installations in the 70's 80's and 90's and started using Altec and JBL Drivers in the Klipsch enclosures as replacements.

They probably wiped the cabinets with linseed oil (or variants). Linseed oil soaked rags (and moving blankets) can burst into flames all by themselves:

Adcom amps were not included in this deal. They were something that was discussed for future purchase. Maybe this is all a racket?...maybe he staged the pictures for some alternate motive?...all i know is what i was presented. I bought in to it after i saw photos. He seemed like a solid guy and had 100% positive feedback on e-bay.

First off I want to say, "Why the hell do smokers think its ok to flick cigarette butts into the wild?" No other form of litering is acceptable yet nearly all smokers dont' think twice about tossing a butt. Bugs the crap out of me. Ok, rant over. Now a similarly sad story:

Agreed.

Actually Dum Dum Girls ignited those speakers.
Nice to see that Robert Palmer's backing band is finding work.:D
O/T, cigarette butt is the most likely culprit, and most likely discarded by the guy driving the truck.
