My sonic temple...new listening space under construction

Great that you are making progress. What are your plans for electrical wise? How many dedicated outlets are you planning on doing?

An electrician buddy is getting supplies together. He's hooked me up with a few spools of 12g and I'll be running it through exposed conduit with all the outlets in wall mount boxes. I have a bunch of hospital grade outlets laying around, so I'll finally put those into service. It'll look a little industrial, but neat. Here's the panel....all but one breaker is available. Prior home owner put this panel in the detached garage (which the studio is butted up against) but never wired the garage except for one electrical outlet. All those breakers save one have never seen current. The 220 breaker will be for the mini split.

Very nice work! It's so nice to have a dedicated space for listening especially if you're a night owl like me. I have a listening space inside that I love (I'm listening to Leon Bridges in it as I type) and at night I can go into the detached garage I set up and crank tunes out there. Still working on that space.
To echo other's statements, the best solution for internet is to run ethernet cable and put a new access point/router out there. I've done that at the last 2 places I've owned. I haven't done that at the new place yet so I do the next best thing. I use the same routers, one at the other end of the house and one in the garage, and set them up as a wireless bridge. It's basically just a repeater with a much more powerful antenna. It's should be adequate for streaming audio. Video? Maybe

My wife got a good offer from AT&T for a top tier fiber optic plan when she cancelled her prior account, and they just laid the line recently on my street, so I told her to go ahead and get it since it's 1000mbs compared to the 50mbs I had on my plan. Not sure how this will affect my situation, but I downloaded an app to test wifi signal strength and this is what I get out in the temple....

I would be so thrilled with those numbers. I live way out in the boonies so my options are limited. Thinking about getting on the waitlist for starlink

I'm assuming a "strong" result would be more desirable for hires streaming? Maybe an extender/booster can get me there.

I'm looking at snagging

Thought I'd check/compare your speed I have a lower tier speed and cost
higher numbers are best for upload and download speed, ping number lower the better.

Yours seem unusually low?

As to repeaters I've had little success until we went with a Mesh system no comparison
really.

I think for using fiber optic, that speed is somewhat slow. I also have AT&T but am only using broadband with 3 mbps but then again I live out near the foothills.
Here is my results.

Inside the house, I'm getting download speeds anywhere from 190-300 and upload speeds around 100. Ping averaging around 8. The numbers I posted from prior test were taken in the temple, which is about 130' away from router and a line of sight signal has to pass through a large stone fireplace and then a brick wall and then a covered race car trailer.

That is pretty tough. Wish I had a least that speed in my area where different companies are limited to a few.

I made an unexpected discovery yesterday while cleaning out one of the storage sheds. The back half was packed with a bunch of old furniture the prior homeowner left behind, and all that was visible when you looked in was an antique sofa and rocker. Turns out that hidden behind them was a MCM sofa frame and recliner. Both are in great structural condition, but the recliner is very cool and I think it has potential as my new listening chair.

I'm going to look into restoring it and having new cushions/upholstery done and I'll refurbish the wood and reclining mechanism...maybe work toward something like this...

Looks like walnut for the frames. Some light sanding and several coats of WATCO oil will bring it right back!

The bass trap cavity framework is just pine...if that's what you're talking about. It'll eventually be covered with the wall fabric then binary amplitude slats/grating over that....and THOSE will get the Watco treatment.

Starting to come together. I am assuming the opposite end is your power connection end listening position.
Opposite end is the front wall and that's where system will be set up. Picture was taken from center of room...so listening position is somewhere between the back wall (pictured) and there where I took the picture from.

Sorry! I quoted too much evidently - I was referring to your furniture find!
