Sadly they came back home with my. They sounded like crap the whole day. :dunno:

Everyone kept offering to take the JBLs off my hands though.

Glad everything is okay with the family, markus! You missed a good one...but I have a feeling there are more to come and they will all be good (although John in Ma may go berserk someday if doesn't sell the Dynaco amp that he shleps around with him). I missed seeing your open baffles! Next time...

Right-o, as you'd expect from open-backed loudspeakers. I always try to listen through that, so to speak. I listen first for midrange accuracy, then HF extension. The BESs didn't seem to be disasters in either respect. I don't worry too much about bass unless it is boomy/thumpy or really mis-integrated (which, of course can be very room/placement specific). Heck, that's what subwoofers are for.

Anyone who listened to my little demo tracks probably noticed a certain midrange-centric theme to most of the selections :-)

(as if anyone really was interested in my approach to critical listening under less-than-optimal circumstances!)

I'm taking it as a sign I need to overhaul the Dynaco and sell it to you. See how much gear you can put in your house before the wife rides off into the sunset on her Vespa.

I would have been more tempted if my Magnavox wasn't nearly as good as a Bob Latino ST-70. :smoke:
 
That ST-70 continues to call out to me, John... I sort of imagine carrying it out while everyone applauds, as in the climax of An Officer and a Gentleman.

If Coleridge was an audiophile I think he would have had that Dynaco hanging around the sailors neck instead of an albatross! Now that I think about it, there are a few sailors here in Marblehead that might want to use the Dynaco as an anchor...

Mark, I always enjoy your demo disks and this one was great. X-25, adamant, peter and I took a listen through it after the crowd had left and enjoyed it very much. Your emphasis was clear and the tunes presented very good examples. Thanks for putting up the play list and please keep them coming!

On another subject, I have a company ftp with unlimited storage and pretty good bandwidth. I was using it to send something to RodG6000 and thought geez, this might be useful for us getting things to and from each other......I could set up a dedicated folder and let us all have at it........thoughts?

Cabinover I have a name tag for you, tell me where to send it.
