First, a big thank you to our host Frank for all his work to make this event happen!
Excellent floor plan enabling the setup and enjoyment of multiple systems simultaneously, excellent grilled steaktips, burgers, etc!
Lots of other excellent foodstuffs from fruit salad to homemade cookies! Yum!
And beer, too. :yes:
Overall cool stuff:
- Frank's killer Altecs
- Frank's and others multitude of amplification and source options
- Two refurbed Concept receivers -- a 12.0 and a 16.0 -- redone by "Grateful" for our host
- At least five listening areas running simultaneously
- Frank's shop neighbor laser etching metal badges to commemorate this event
- AdamAnt's super clean, high performance linear track Beogram TT. I've never seen one in such excellent condition and it sounded incredibly good. Folks, this thing was perfect!
- A nice copy of Rolling Stones "Satanic Majesties" from AdamAnt. He beat me to it at a record show last year and just offered it to me "out of the blue". A standout from all the records he brought was a great 13th Floor Elevators LP that just rocked.
- Demoing pipe organ music in the "back room"!
- Mark Hardy's commemorative demo disk/event keepsake. His demo disks always inspire me to try something new!
- Mark Hardy's contribution of a receiver for a friend of mine recovering from brain surgery! :thmbsp:
- Botrytis' demo disk -- more musical inspiration!
- Botrytis' bringing a Sony amp for me to A/B test. I'm not telling anyone which model because I want one for when I go to separates!
- PAL DVD from Urchin featuring vintage footage of Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, The Who and others! Fun stuff!
- A set of much-needed headshell wires from thedelihaus
- An in-depth description of Polk speaker variations -- now I know what one are worth acquiring for my listening needs.
- I was able to give away a few pounds of LPs.
I'm sure I've left lots of things out, and will post more as I remember it.

First ones since Thanksgiving and I must say they were tasty!
But I attribute the memory blip to information overload -- that's why I was carrying a notebook for most of the day!

OK, sorting photos as we speak.
You couldn't ask for much more in a get together. Sitting in a woodshop, next to a laser shop, all located in an old industrial building, drinking beer and listening to five different stereos while eating steak kabobs and watching freight trains roll by. About as much fun as you can have without a woman, whipped cream, and an inflatable pool.
Speaking of the kabobs, I forgot the name of the guy who grilled them but they were great.
Always good to hear all the cool (and not so cool) different gear that people bring along. Next time we do this I'm bringing more demo hardware to play with.
Another thing I like about the AK crowd is that you get a more relaxed attitude towards all this. Not that there wasn't some serious critical listening going on, but by the end of the night we had the broadest speakers hooked up to the most powerful amp in the smallest room playing the loudest recording. It's like the hifi equivalent of a bunch of drunk Australians hitting each other over the heads with cricket bats.
Oh yeah, Soundweasel, you had the awesome pen, right? Remind me of the brand.

Thanks as always to Frank for being an outstanding host! Great food, great folks, great music, great nametags, can't get any better than that. :yes: I'm glad that the Beogram 8000 decided to behave itself this time, as did x_25's Maggie console pull tube amp (man, did that thing sound sweet!). I'm glad that Peter is happy with the speakers and turntable he bought from me. It's always been my aim to make sure that my stuff goes to people who can truly enjoy it, and I definitely accomplished that goal yesterday.
John in MA: Thanks for bringing that Kaypro! Should be interesting to mess around with. We'll have to figure something out with regards to your other computer stuff.
