A reading of 112 ohm should not cause any issues for the protection circuit, normal values are likely to be in the range of 100 -300 ohms.
You are right in that the posistor is a part of the protection circuit but only when the resistance reading is very high, somewhere in the kilo ohm region, will it cause the circuit to engage.
